The first step is, Tier 1, in classroom intervention where the general education
teacher provides additional support to the struggling student. The teacher
monitors whether or not the struggling student is making any progress. If
progress is being made no other further steps will be taken. However, if students
are not making progress or growth with the extra support from the general
education teacher than a specialist will begin working with said students a few
times a week outside of classroom instruction. During Tier 2 the specialist works
with the student they too collect data as to whether progress or growth is being
made. If the student is making progress then the student will no longer receive
outside services from a specialist. If no progress is made then student will be
referred for Tier 3 intervention which additional testing and to the child study
team to determine if the student qualifies for special education services
