Indoor Sports Hall at the Olympic Club

The administration of Olympic club seeks to embark on a transformative journey, replacing the
existing indoor sport facility at the Olympic club with a state-of-the-art structure that embodies
the club's ambitious vision. This new facility must not only cater to the diverse needs of its
members and the local community but also stand as a beacon of cutting-edge design and
sustainable practices.
The design approach must prioritize both functionality and form. The structure itself should
emphasize on either smart systems or recycled materials to produce an innovative and visually
striking statement, pushing the boundaries of architectural expression while remaining sensitive
to the surrounding environment. Sustainable materials and construction methods are non-
negotiable, as the club seeks to minimize its environmental footprint. Natural daylighting and
ventilation strategies should be incorporated to create a healthy and inviting atmosphere.
Accessibility for all users, regardless of their physical abilities, is paramount.
Given the magnitude of the project, the structural system would be one of the key elements of the
design, requiring the use of a mega structure. promoting the flexibility of creating unique forms
and incubating the large span of the indoor sports hall.

A. COURSE AIM:
The main aim of designing the program with a structural theme for the Olympic Club is to create
a transformative and iconic indoor sport facility that aligns with the club's ambitious vision. The
emphasis is on pushing the boundaries of architectural expression while incorporating sustainable
practices.
The key goals and considerations for the design program are:
• Functionality and Form Integration
• Mega Structure for Large Span
• Cutting-Edge Design
• Sustainable Practices
• Natural Daylighting and Ventilation
• Accessibility for All
• Community Integration
B. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:

Project Components for Indoor Sports Hall at Olympic Club (average 3,000 m2):
1. Indoor Sport Hall Components:
• Indoor Sport Hall: Designed for flexibility with retractable dividers, markings, or other
features to accommodate various sports and activities (futsal, handball, volleyball, boxing, etc.).
• Warm-up and cool-down zone: Dedicated areas for pre- and post-activity preparation and
recovery.
• Spectator areas: Strategically placed seating or viewing sections to encourage engagement
and support.
• 3 Fitness studios for specific activities (yoga, CrossFit, etc.)

2. Functional Amenities:
• Locker rooms: Separate facilities for men, women, with showers and secure storage.
• Restrooms: Conveniently located throughout the facility, accessible to all users.
• Concessions: Food and beverage options to cater to users before, during, and after activities.
• Administrative offices: 4-6 rooms designated for staff and management functions.

3. Underground parking garage:

• underground parking to accommodate club members, visitors, and potentially staff
parking. Consider:
• Number of parking spaces based on anticipated user demand and local regulations.
• Accessible parking spaces for individuals with disabilities.
• Electric vehicle charging stations to promote sustainability.
• Integration with pedestrian and cycling paths for seamless access.

C. ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
• Technology integration: Smart lighting, climate control, digital signage, and potential fitness
tracking integration to enhance experience and efficiency.
• Sustainability features: Use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, renewable
energy sources, and green infrastructure opportunities.

D. SUBMITTIONS SCHEDULE AMD DRAWINGS REQUIREMENTS:

• All research material and design phases must be filed in the student's PORTFOLIO
(Sketches/design phases for the work progress)
• PHYSICAL MODELS with different & real materials are an important part of design
development phases and process.
• The submission of phases and final project should be in the form of well-presented
architectural drawings (A2/A1/A0 size sheets).
• Students are required to submit the following DRAWINGS/ MODEL:

1. Plans - Scale 1:200

2. Sections- Scale 1:200
3. Site Plan- Scale 1:400
4. Elevations- Scale 1:200
5. Project Analysis (Site analysis, structure system and environmental treatments)
6. Perspectives - Appropriate scale
7. Physical Model- Appropriate scale
