. NANOPARTICLES
Nanoparticles are particles between 1 and
100 nanometers in size. In nanotechnology , a
particle is defined as a small object that
behaves as a whole unit with respect to its
transport and properties. Particles are further
classified according to diameter.
.
Green Synthesis :
Green Chemistry is the design of chemical
products and processes that reduce or
eliminate the use and generation of
hazardous substances .
Silver nanoparticles are being used in numerous technologies and
incorporated into a wide array of consumer products that take advantage of
their desirable optical, conductive, and antibacterial properties.

Silver Nanoparticle Applications

•Diagnostic Applications

Silver nanoparticles are used in biosensors and numerous assays where the
silver nanoparticle materials can be used as biological tags for quantitative
detection.

•Antibacterial Applications

Silver nanoparticles are incorporated in apparel, footwear, paints, wound

dressings, appliances, cosmetics, and plastics for their antibacterial
properties.
•Conductive Applications

Silver nanoparticles are used in conductive inks and integrated into

composites to enhance thermal and electrical conductivity.

•Optical Applications

Silver nanoparticles are used to efficiently harvest light and for enhanced
optical spectroscopies including metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) and
surface-enhanced Raman scattering

Our method:
NATURAL REDUCING AGENT

 Plant source used is Aloe vera.

 Aloe gel is used for treating

osteoarthritis, bowel diseases,
fever, itching and inflammation.

 It possess anti fungul and anti

bacterial properties.
PREPARATION OF
EXTRACTS

 Aloe Vera contains many

hydrophobic substances.
 Therefore, we used
methanol and distilled water
in addition to aqueous
extract.
 Both extracts are placed on
Magnetic stirrer for 2 hours
and left for over night
reaction.
VACCUM FILTERATION

 Vacuum filtration is done 4-5

times until the liquid extract

became colorless.

 After that, the extracts are stored

at room temperature.
PREPARATION OF SALT
SOLUTION

 Solution of silver nitrate in distilled

water is prepared.

 30% ammonia solution is added into

the salt solution.

 Ammonia facilitates the reaction by

forming complex with the Ag ions.

Synthesis of Ag Nano particles

 The salt solution is added to both

extracts separately.

 The solution formed is placed at

magnetic stirrer for 4-5 hours.

 After that the solutions are stored at

room temperature for over night

reaction.
Formation of Ag nano-particles

The color of solution turned from bright yellow to dull reddish brown
color which indicates the formation of nano particles.
UV- visible Spectroscopy

 The UV-visible spectroscopy is done

through taking distilled water as blank

solution.

 Significant change in absorption is

observed at wavelength 410 nm, which

is the characteristic of silver nano

particles.
Preparation of Silver Nano composites

Polymer matrix + Nanomaterials = PNCs

The properties of nano-sized metals (optical, magnetic, dielectric,

and thermal transport properties) leave unmodified after

embedding in polymers.
