5 NEWS PRESENTER: PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged “all concerned”

6 on Thursday, February 8, 2024, to stop calls for the

7 secession of Mindanao from the rest of the Philippines,

8 noting that it is a “grave” violation to the Constitution.

9 In his speech during the observation of “Constitution

10 2024” held in Makati City, Marcos said efforts to separate

11 Mindanao from the Philippines “is doomed to fail because

12 it is anchored on a false premise. This is Elise Siose,

2 NEWS PRESENTER: THREE Chinese nationals in Davao City will face legal

3 cases for violating City Ordinance 060-02, also known as

4 the Firecracker Ban, after their minute-long fireworks

5 display during the Chinese New Year celebration on

6 Friday night, February 9, 2024.

7 The incident marks the first violation this year

8 and one of the few cases recorded in the past

9 several years since the enactment of the ordinance in

10 2002, prohibiting the use or distribution of firecrackers,

11 pyrotechnic devices, and similar items.

4 NEWS PRESENTER: Rescuers are battling to find dozens of people missing after

5 a landslide buried buses and houses in a gold-mining village in

6 Barangay Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro.

7 The landslide, 7 triggered by heavy rains, brought part of a

8 mountainside covering the remote village, killing at least five

9 people, with 31 injured and three evacuated by helicopter.
