STONE AGE
Skara Brae, a Neolithic settlement in Orkney,
Scotland, dating back to around 3200 BCE,
features stone-built furniture, including display
cabinets with shelves, often embedded into the
walls of the dwellings. These cabinets were likely
used for storage and display of personal
belongings, showcasing the resourcefulness and
functional design of early human furniture in a
communal setting.

ANCIENT EGYPT
Hatnefer's chair, dating back to the 18th Dynasty
of ancient Egypt, is an exquisite example of
wooden furniture with intricate carvings and
inlays. The chair features a high, elaborately
decorated backrest and elegant lion-shaped legs,
showcasing the craftsmanship and artistic flair of
the period.

GREEK EMPIRE
The Klismos chair is a classic ancient Greek chair

military power carried over to other civilizations,
as it was also used in this regard by kings in
Europe, Napoleon, and others.

DARK AGES
The 13th-century hutch chest was a sturdy
wooden storage chest with a hinged lid,
commonly used for storing valuables, textiles, and
household items. Decorated with intricate
carvings and often featuring iron fittings, these
chests served both utilitarian and decorative
purposes in medieval households.

BYZANTINE EMPIRE
The Maximianus Archbishop throne chair is a
Byzantine-era ecclesiastical seat characterized by
