Human Value Development

In a primary sense, we begin to understand ourselves as we grow older. We were
able to construct our own perspective as we learnt firsthand from our culture,
environment, or family. All things considered, I believe that these components or
aspects became valuable to my life. Firstly, my physiological needs, including water,
food, air, and shelter, cannot be ignored as these needs make me survive in spite of my
intense instinct. Without fulfilling these physiological needs, my body will simply break
down and die on its own. Secondly, the foundation of my happiness are both of my
family and friends. They are truly the things that make my life richer and more
complete, which is indeed priceless. The reason is that, following the satisfaction of our
basic physiological and safety needs, the next stage is to satisfy our social needs. We
require a sense of belonging to a larger social group as well as a sense of social
connection to our family and friends. Furthermore, we require people to whom we can
turn for advice and encouragement when we face adversity. It is not enough to have just
one person in your support network because you may become overly reliant on that
person and exhaust them. Additionally, it can be devastating if the only person on whom
you have been relying on is unable to accompany you. In this sense, different people
bring out different aspects of our personalities and fulfill different roles in our lives. For
example, I used to be awfully competitive in academic work, but my family and friends
confronted me to become the better version of myself that I am today. Setting
insensitivity aside, I was able to realize that the world does not revolve around me.

Ultimately, I believe that my self-aspect or spiritual growth holds greater

importance to my life because both my individual and social self have allowed me to
engage in different events. These events molded me to become a better version of
myself, wherein my level of self-awareness improved. As you may know, my former self
has sustained deeper attention to the point where I kept using the word "I" instead of
"we”. However, in today’s application, I was able to consider and validate other people’s
emotions thereby gaining the ability to empathize with others. With that being said, my
own self has attributed my imperfect flaws. Along with my mental faculties, I was able to
reflect on who I truly am and create meaning whilst striving to find my purpose. At this
moment in time, I believe that my center or purpose is to build others as I am building
myself, and I always uphold this purpose during their darkest days or whenever they are
completely needy.

These aspects or qualities are interconnected and interwoven with one another
because we are multi-faceted beings who show different faces to the world and feel
different within ourselves. Based on the given aspects, I believe that these attributes are
well-balanced because all of them have the ability to influence and change one another.
