Start Hackathon 2023

The 48-Hour Start Hackathon 2023 organized by the DAP - Center for Strategic Futures took place last
October 17, 2023 at their Conference Center in Tagaytay City.
The competition, a crucial component of the Linking Innovation Partners towards Accelerated
Development (LIPAD PH) project, focused on generating innovative solutions for the City of Malolos.
Participants were tasked with addressing various challenges faced by the city through creative solutions
and innovations.
One noteworthy proposal came from MVG Innovative TSUlutions, addressing Challenge #1 on
Enhancing Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in Malolos City. The team proposed the development
of a comprehensive disaster management software platform named "Malolos SafeGuard." This web-based
and mobile application aimed to enhance disaster risk reduction and resilience capabilities in Malolos
City, featuring components such as Incident Reporting and Alert System, Geospatial Integration, Multi-
Platform Access, User Authentication and Security, Incident Management Workflow, Reporting and
Analytics, Integration and Data Exchange, Notifications and Alerts, Compliance and Audit Trails, User
Training and Support, and Scalability and Performance. The MVG Innovative TSUlutions Team, led by
Dr. Marlon Gamido, included Jesus Valdoz, Rolando Chuahong, Jun Marc Talavera, and Mark James
Fernandez from the TSU MIS Software Development Unit.
During his opening remarks, Mayor Christian D. Natividad expressed gratitude to the competition
finalists. He affirmed the City Government's commitment to supporting programs aimed at improving the
standard of living for Malolenyos. Mayor Natividad emphasized the administration's readiness to provide
opportunities and listen to the modern ideas and solutions presented by the youth to address the city's
challenges.
The Keynote Speaker, DOST USec. Dr. Sancho A. Maborang, welcomed participants, highlighting the
cooperation between the local government and its constituents in developing the city. Dr. Maborang
emphasized the importance of government openness to engaging constituents for more effective problem-
solving.
Ms. Jennifer Gayle Flores, the DAP-CSF Project Manager, shared the announced steps of the City
Government and her agency toward the positive advancement of the program in Malolos City.
The event featured a ceremonial signing of an MOU, including SCC Network partner Technology
Business Incubation (TBI), along with SULONG Central Luzon and UPLB SIBOL TBI. This underscored
the intensified support TBI partners in Region 3 would provide to Hackathon participants, ensuring the
continuity of their creative innovations.
From 75 carefully evaluated entries, only the following groups emerged as finalists: CSC Pirates, PSUSC
ITnnovators, CTRL-ALT-DEL-iver, Byte Busters, MVG Innovative TSUlutions, CRATE, Open Soars,
TROYER, Shoe Tech, and FEMENOVA Health.
