KING LEAR

SCENE 1(INTRO)

NARRATOR:In his youth,Lear had won the crown of Britain through his
strength,courage and cunning,and he had enjoyed ruling the country. All the
people sang praises of his wisdom.(goes to the side to change)
Now he is old. His eyes are dull,his hair white and his face wrinkled. The old
king addressed the nobles he called to his room.

LEAR:I want to give up the crown before the strain of ruling becomes too much.
Britain will be divided into 3 to be ruled by my daughters.the richest part will
be given to the one who loves me the most.

NARRATOR: King Lear turned to his first daughter Goneril.

LEAR:Goneril my child, wife of albany- how much do you love me?

ALABANY- ayyyy thas me!

NARRATOR:Goneril had red hair and the personality of a karen.

(for those of you gen-z boomers, karen is slang for women who are entitled and
demanding up to a psychotic level.)

GONERIL: hey! I'd like to speak to your manager about this script.
(chee pah)

GONERIL:Anyway,father, I love you more than words,more than my own life!

NARRATOR: Lear was pleased to hear this (that's my girl)

LEAR: And what does my second daughter,Reagan, wife of Cornwall have to say?(ah
what?)

NARRATOR: Regan’s fake smile masked her greed.

REGAN: my love is greater than goneril’s. My true pleasure is your happiness.

NARRATOR: what Lear heard was music to his ears. He turned to his youngest
daughter Cordelia who also happened to be his favourite. The king of France and
the Duke of Burgundy had come to ask for Cordelia's hand in marriage and they
were also present.(oui)

LEAR: daughter, what are you going to tell me?

NARRATOR: cordelia was an introverted character. She struggled to speak and then
blurted-
CORDELIA: nothing, my lord

NARRATOR: lear was shocked

LEAR: nothing!

CORDELIA: nothing.

LEAR: nothing!

CORDELIA: nothing.

LEAR:If you say nothing, you'll get nothing! Speak again.

CORDELIA: (yelling) I'm nothing like my sisters!

GONERIL-that's for sure.(snap)

CORDELIA: I can't give you empty promises. I love you as much as a daughter
should love her father , no more, no less.

NARRATOR: Lear was FURIOUS. You could see the rage in his eyes.

LEAR: (roaring) then you'll get nothing from me. Your favourite word only noh?
Your sisters can share the third part of my kingdom. You are not my daughter and
all.

NARRATOR: cordelia lowered her head and wept. Lear continued (KOF will comfort
her)

LEAR: my power passes to my 2 daughters. I shall keep the title of king and a
company of 100 servants. We will spend alternate months with goneril and regan.

NARRATOR: Now the earl of Kent stepped in. He was Lear's most loyal and trusted
servant.

KENT: hey! Boomer uncle, have you lost your mind? Anyone with eyes can see how
Cordelia loves you. You are making a mistake!

NARRATOR: Lear was angered beyond words now. He pointed his trembling finger at
kent.

LEAR: dei, ill banish you! You have 5 days to leave. After that if i see you here
no?that's all.

NARRATOR: Kent left.(loosu) Lear turned to the king of France and duke of
burgundy.

LEAR: Since my daughter is good for nothing, I understand if you both don't wanna
marry her.
DOB:Wokay bye!
KOF:Cordelia's honesty makes me love her even more. It would be incroyable to
marry her and make her my queen.(sema rizz bro)
LEAR: aiyyo i wish she was never born. Take her and go.

SCENE 2

NARRATOR: Cordelia leaves with the king of France and lear prepares to stay at
Goneril and Regan's part of the kingdom respectively, along with a 100 servants.
Kent disguises himself as a servant and joins them( this boomer uncle will never
know. Like one baby only he is)

NARRATOR: Lear soon realises his daughters do not want him and the love they
declared for him was untrue. He was treated cruelly by them.

GONERIL- why is this boomer uncle following us everywhere?

REGAN- i know! He has no other job or what?

NARRATOR: lear runs away followed by kent. the king of france prepares to invade
the kingdom which is now goneril and regan’s

KOF: troops! préparer l'attaque (preparil attash)

KENT:(running) that means prepare for attack!

NARRATOR: kent texts cordelia telling her about lear’s

condition(action)(cordelia- aiyyo i have to go get him now)

SCENE 3:

LEAR:(on his knees)forgive me,my daughter, I know you don't love me. Your sisters
hate me for no reason, but you have reason to hate me.

CORDELIA:(now also on her knees) you are my father. How could I hate you? I love
you as a daughter should (gets up) now get up.

LEAR: I love you too, daughter. But I can't get up. I have knee pain. Please help
me .(she helps him up)(moment)

LEAR:Do you have zandu balm?

KENT: (with balm) here you go boomer uncle.

LEAR: bubblegum ah?

RANDO:(comes running) the French have been defeated!the French have been
defeated!the French have been defeated!

FIVE MINUTES AGO:

fight scene:
KOF:cordelia!Je vous aime( jsche voozame)
kent:(that means he loves her!)
Battle continues-dukes push KOF,stab him,
DUKES:victory!!
(captures cordelia and lear on the side)

ALBANY(brings them to the front)

CORNWALL: kneel down!(she kneels)

ALBANY : Yo boomer uncle. didn't you hear him? Kneel down old man(kicks)

LEAR: apppaa my knees!

SCENE 4:

NARRATOR: Kent unties the both of them and as they are running cordelia falls to
the ground

LEAR(moves towards cordelia)

KENT: No, my lord we must run!(lear follows)

REGAN : kill her!

NARRATOR:Cornwall stabs cordelia and everyone flees the scene. Lear comes rushing
back and falls beside his daughter's body.

LEAR: (cries.) no! My sweet beautiful angel!

NARRATOR: Lear, unable to bear the death of his daughter, dies of grief.(lays on
cordelia)

NARRATORS: SCENE! THE END

KENT: wait pannunga! I love you boomer uncle!(runs off)
