EXPLANATION

Complete this lab as follows:

1. Plug in a power strip.


a. Under Shelf, expand Outlets.
b. Select Power Strip.
c. From the Selected Component pane, drag the AC Power Connector (Male) to the wall outlet.
2. Provide power to the computer.
a. Above the computer, select Back to switch to the Back view of the computer.
b. Under Shelf, expand Cables.
c. Select AC Power Cable.
d. From the Selected Component pane:
Drag the AC Power Connector (Male) to an outlet on the power strip.
Drag the AC Power Connector (Female) to the power plug on the back of the computer.

3. Connect the keyboard.


a. Under Shelf, expand Input Devices.
b. Select Keyboard.
c. From the Selected Component pane, drag the USB Type A Connector to a USB port on the back of the computer.
4. Connect the mouse.
a. Under Shelf, select Mouse.
b. From the Selected Component pane, drag the USB Type A Connector to a USB port on the back of the computer.
5. Connect the speakers.
a. Under Shelf, expand Speakers.
b. Select Speakers.
c. From the Selected Component pane, drag the 3.5mm TRS Connector to the green mini-TRS port on the back of the computer.
6. Connect the monitor to the computer.
a. Under Shelf, expand Monitors.
b. Drag the monitor from the Shelf and to the Workspace.
c. Above the monitor, select Back to switch to the Back view of the monitor.
d. Under Shelf, expand Cables.
e. Select DVI-D to DVI-D.
f. From the Selected Component pane:

Drag a DVI-D Connector to the DVI-D port on the back of the monitor.
Drag the other DVI-D Connector to the DVI-D port on the back of the computer.

7. Plug the monitor into the power strip.


a. Under Shelf, select AC Power Cable.
b. From the Selected Component pane:
Drag the AC Power Connector (Male) to an outlet on the power strip in the Workspace.
Drag the AC Power Connector (Female) to the power plug on the back of the monitor.

8. Connect the printer.


a. Under Shelf, expand Printers.
b. Drag the Inkjet Printer to the Workspace.
c. Above the printer, select Back.
d. Under Shelf, expand Cables.
e. Select USB Cable (A/B).
f. From the Selected Component pane:
Drag the USB Type B Connector to the USB port on the back of the printer.
Drag the USB Type A Connector to a USB port on the back of the computer.

9. Provide power to the printer.


a. Under Shelf, select Power Adapter for HP.
b. From the Selected Component pane:
Drag the DC power adapter to the power port on the printer.
Drag the Power Adapter, AC to an outlet on the power strip in the Workspace.

10. Connect the computer to the network.


a. Under Shelf, select the Cat6a cable.
b. From the Selected Component pane:
Drag an RJ45 Shielded connector to the RJ45 port on the back of the computer.
Drag the other RJ45 Shielded connector to the RJ45 port on the wall plate above the wall power outlet.

11. Verify that everything was connected correctly.


a. Above the computer, select Front to switch to the Front view of the computer.
b. Above the monitor, select Front to switch to the Front view of the monitor.
c. On the monitor, select the power button.
d. On the computer, select the power button.
If the power is connected, the light around the power button will come on. If the computer turns on and the monitor is connected,
you will see the computer start up and load Windows.
12. Verify that the computer is connected to the network.
a. Right-click Start and select Settings.
b. Select Network & internet.
The diagram shows a connection. In the upper left, you see that your computer is connected to the CorpNet.local network as the
Administrator.
