Task Summary
Actions you were required to perform:
In Connect the cable modem to the Internet using the RG-6 cable
In Connect the computer to the cable modem using the Ethernet cable
In Plug in the cable modem
In Confirm that the computer is properly connected to the Internet

Explanation
In this lab, your task is to complete the following:

Connect the components to make the internet connection.

Add the cable modem to the Workspace.
Connect the modem to the WAN connection using the RG-6 coaxial cable. Both RG-6 and RG-59 are 75 ohms
and can be used, but RG-6 has less signal loss than RG-59. RG-58 cables are used for 10Base2 Ethernet and
have a BNC connector.
Connect the computer to the cable modem using a Cat5e Ethernet cable.
Use the AC to DC power adapter to plug in the modem.
Confirm that the Home-PC computer is properly connected to the internet.

Complete this lab as follows:

1. On the Shelf, expand the Modems category.

2. Drag the cable modem from the Shelf to the Workspace.
3. Select Back to switch to the back view of the cable modem.
4. On the Shelf, expand the Cables category.
5. Select the RG-6 coaxial cable.
6. In the Selected Component window, drag a connector to the port on the cable modem.
7. In the Selected Component window, drag the other connector to the port on the wall plate.
8. Over the computer, select Back to switch to the back view of the computer to connect the computer to the cable
modem.
9. On the Shelf, select the Cat5e Ethernet cable.
10. In the Selected Component window, drag a connector to the Ethernet port on the cable modem.
11. In the Selected Component window, drag the other connector to the Ethernet port on the computer.
12. Select the power adapter on the Shelf to plug in the cable modem.
13. In the Selected Component window, drag the DC power connector to the port on the cable modem.
14. In the Selected Component window, drag the AC adapter end to the power outlet.
15. Select Click to view Windows 10 on the monitor.

Lab 2.3.3

Performance
Your Score: 0 of 4 (0%)
Elapsed Time: 13 seconds

Task Summary
Actions you were required to perform:
Connect the LC connector to the SFP module on the switch
Connect the ST A connector to the Tx port on the computer
Connect the ST B connector to the Rx port on the computer
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the CorpiSCSI server

Explanation

To determine which network components to use, examine the ports on the switch and the CorpiSCSI
server.

• The SFP module installed in the switch uses LC connectors.

• The fiber optic NIC installed in the CorpiSCSI server uses ST connectors.

The only cable that can be used to connect the switch and the server is the ST to LC fiber cable.

• LC connectors have two connectors linked together. LC connectors can only be inserted one
way.

• ST connectors twist on using a BNC connector. An ST cable has two color-coded ST

connectors, one for transmit (Tx) and one for receive (Rx).

Complete this lab as follows:

1. On the Shelf, expand the Cables category.

2. Drag the ST to LC fiber cable to the SFP 1 LC port on the switch.
3. In the Select Connector window, select the LC connector.
4. Above the rack, select Back to switch to the back view.
Lab 2.3.3

5. In the Selected Component pane, drag the ST Connector (A) to the Tx port on the
CorpiSCSI server (the bottom server).
6. In the Selected Component pane, drag the ST Connector (B) to the Rx port on the
CorpiSCSI server.
7. Disconnect the Cat5e Cable from the CorpiSCSI server as follows:
a. Drag the RJ45 connector from the back of the server to the Shelf.
b. Click the Front button above the rack.
c. Drag the highlighted RJ45 connector from the switch to the Shelf.
8. On the CorpiSCSI's monitor, select Click to view Windows Server 2016 (right-most
monitor).
9. In the notification area, right-click the Network icon and select Open Network and Sharing
Center.
10. Select Change adapter settings.
11. Verify that Ethernet 3 is connected to CorpNet.com.
12. Click Done to finish the lab.
