The main message of this novel is hope. When times were tough for Farah she never
gave up. When Farah would end up stepping on a landmine she had to get her leg
amputated and she had to go to Germany to get the proper medical care. She had been
in Germany for a few years and then was sent back to Afghanistan. While back in
Afghanistan the war was still going on, and Farah s Father and sister died. After all of
