- Start the lesson by displaying a world map and asking students to identify different

countries.
- Show pictures of different holiday celebrations and ask students if they recognize any of
them.
- Engage students in a discussion about their own holiday experiences and preferences,
encouraging them to share their favorite holiday memories.
Modeling:
- Introduce key vocabulary related to holidays and locations, such as destinations, and
landmarks.
- Discuss the meaning of each vocabulary word and provide examples to ensure
understanding.
- Use visuals and real-life examples to help students connect the vocabulary to the topic.

Group activity:
- Students will read about holidays in different countries such as Canada, the Caribbean,
and Brazil.
- Have students read individually or in pairs and identify key information about each
country's holiday traditions.
- Encourage students to discuss their findings with a partner and share interesting facts they
learned.
- Distribute a set of task cards with questions (fan-n-pick) about the reading materials and
photo descriptions.
- Have students answer the questions in a group, demonstrating their understanding of the
topic.

Differentiation:
- Provide additional support for struggling readers by assigning them a shorter text or
providing a summary of the reading material.
- Offer extension activities for advanced learners, such as researching and presenting
information about a holiday from a different country.

Wrap up: (pair work)


- Evaluate student understanding through the completed task cards, assessing their ability to
answer questions based on the reading materials and photo descriptions.
- Monitor student participation during discussions and group activities to gauge their
understanding of the key vocabulary and concepts.
