Poverty

Poverty is general scarcity or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material
possessions or money. It is a multifaceted concept, which includes social, economic, and
political elements. Absolute povertyor destitution refers to the lack of means necessary to
meet basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. Absolute poverty is considered to be
about the same independent of location. Relative poverty occurs when people in a country do
not enjoy a certain minimum level of living standards as compared to the rest of the
population and so would vary from country to country, sometimes within the same country.

In Indonesia, poverty do still exist in Indonesia. Poverty in Indonesia is a widespread issue

though in recent years the official numbers show an inclining trend and probably one of the
poorest in the world. Due to the dense rural nature of parts of the Java, Bali, Lombok, and
parts of Sumatra, poverty can be classified into rural and urban poverty. Urban poverty is
prevalent in not only in Jabodetabek, but also in Medan and Surabaya.

As a sprawling archipelago, poverty characteristics and implications vary widely from island
to island and culture to culture.Papua has serious poverty issues of its own due to economic,
cultural, linguistic and physical isolation which set it apart from the rest of Indonesia.

Based on the regulations in Indonesia, pasal 34 ayat 1 UUD 1945. Everyone who is in
poverty will maintain by the goverment. This regulations didn’t really work yet. Because
there are still some people with poverty who live under the bridge and didn’t have money.
And live with illness. Their welfare didn’t filled yet. The goverment have some programs that
can help proverty people. But the fact is, the money which is for the poverty people used by
the corruptor. So, the poverty people still in suffer.

In my opinion, poverty still the one of the biggest problem in Indonesia. The goverment
didn’t care about it and just sit quietly in their own authority. This problem have to be solved
and make people more welfare.

The solution is, we can built some of production which can help people to find job and make
some school to teach people about the talent which can used to find a job.
