2. Calculation of the final mark

According to the rules and regulations of the Faculty of Economics and Management Science,
the final mark of this module is calculated as follows:

50% of the semester mark plus 50% of the examination mark

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

▪ If you do not complete an assessment, you will not receive an “incomplete” status for the
module. However, a zero mark (0%) will be awarded for the missed assessment.
▪ A semester mark of at least 40% to gain access to the examination and a final mark
of at least 50% is required to pass the module.
▪ Should you want to enquire about an assessment mark, you have 5 working days after
marks are made available for a specific assessment to contact your lecturer. If you
do not enquire during this timeframe you forfeit the opportunity and will not be assisted.
This will be enforced strictly this year.
▪ From 2024 onwards, the following applies to examination opportunities:
o All students, including final years will have two (2) examination opportunities in
total, i.e. the main or supplementary examinations.

o A supplementary examination does not constitute a student’s first examination

opportunity, rather it is the student’s final examination opportunity. Therefore, if a
student fails to participate in the main examination for valid reasons, the student
will only be permitted to write the supplementary examination – and no further
examination opportunities will be allowed.

3. Technical difficulties during online assessments

Should you encounter a valid technical issue with any online assessment, you have to send a
query within 2 days after the assessment deadline as per the e-assessment guidelines of the
University of the Free State. See below the guidelines.
