1.0 Objectives
All the proposed activities are aimed at the following:
1. Optimize the teachers’ working days in July and August 2020.
2. Form IMAS Teaching Resources Bank for 2020/21.
3. Plan all the activities in advance so that teachers will have a less stressful
academic year ahead.
4. Prioritise teaching and guiding the students over preparing teaching material
during the school days.

4.1 Multimedia projector (Available in the auditorium.)
4.2 Speakers (Facilitators will make necessary arrangement.)
4.3 Photocopier (Available in the Secondary School Block.)
4.4 Printed handouts for the teachers (Facilitator will make necessary arrangement.)
4.5 Laptops – Teachers will be asked to bring their own laptops.

5.0 Activities
5.1 Academic Director’s address
The Academic Director addresses the teachers to boost their morale.

5.2 Heads of schools’ address


Either one or both the heads of the schools address the teachers, emphasising
the importance of the cooperation of all the members of the staff.
5.3 IT Workshop – Google Education
During this session the teachers will undergo a training programme designed by
Google Education.
Three types of training programmes are be offered to the teachers of IMAS.
1. Fundamental Training.
2. Advanced Training.
3. Certified Trainer Course (for HoDs)

5.4 Introduction to curricular framework for academic year 2020/21.


During this session, HoDs will provide the teachers with the curricular
framework for the all grades.
It is suggested that we should adapt Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower
Secondary and Cambridge IGCSE curricula.

5.5 Lecture – Teaching Methods


During this session, the HoDs should outline the department’s / school’s
expectation on the method of teaching and evaluating students.
It is recommended to adapt a tried and tested method of teaching.

5.6 Preparation of Teaching Material.


Every lesson the teachers prepare should contain the following.
• A PowerPoint presentation to explain the lesson - Mandatory
• A video (Recommended) – to explain lesson further
• A worksheet - Mandatory
• Lab Lesson (Science Department only) - Mandatory

5.7 Submission of teaching material


The number of lessons to be prepared every week will be explained by the
HoDs.

5.8 Submission of the Yearly Plan


Teachers will submit the yearly plan during this session.
The template will be provided to the HoDs to standardize the process.

5.9 Appointment of class teachers


The class teachers of the Academic year 2020/21 will be appointed during this
session.

5.10 Timetable Dry Run


The dry run of the timetable will take place in each department to make sure
that there is no overlap in the lesson hours.
5.11 Distribution of Department Handbook
The department handbook is to be distributed during this session.
The HoDs should outline the important areas of the document and explain
them to the teachers.

5.12 Planning and submission of Projects.


The teachers should be informed in advance to come prepared with some
ideas.
They may reuse the project proposal which were prepared for the Semester 2
of 2019/2020.

5.13 Planning and submission of Activities.


The teachers should be informed in advance to come prepared with some
ideas.
They may reuse the activities which were planned for the Semester 2 of
2019/2020.

5.14 Preparation of Exam Papers / Marking Schemes – Semester 1


During this session, the teachers will prepare the following.
• Exam Papers – Monthly Tests – Semester 1
• Marking Schemes – Monthly Tests – Semester 1
• Final Exam Papers – Semester 1
• Marking Schemes – Semester 1

5.15 Briefing – Educational Trips 2020/21


During this session, the teachers are to be updated on the following
• Tentative dates of the trips
• Tentative places

5.16 Briefing – CCA & Sports Day 2020/21


As this one of the biggest events of the school, the teachers are to be updated
on the following.
• Tentative date of the event.
• Teachers houses (We may make changes if new teachers join later)
• Tentative days of practice.
• Proposed venue.
5.17 SOP of Managing Disciplinary Issues.
Uniformed measures to be introduced in dealing with difficult students which
should include the following.
• Teachers’ limitations in the way of responding to students’
misbehaviour.
• Different degree of misbehaviour and the teachers’ responses.
• Keeping records of students’ misbehaviour.

5.18 SOP of Teachers Duties & Assignment of Duties


During this session, the teachers are to be briefed on the following
• Break time duties
• Dismissal time duties
• Teachers’ duties other than teaching in the classroom.

5.19 SOP of Examinations, Marking & Releasing of results.


During this session, the teachers are to be briefed on the following
• Dates of the examinations 2020/21
• Marking deadlines
• SOP of releasing the results to the students.

5.20 HR – Briefing
All the necessary information related to HR should be given to the teachers.
(To be discussed during the meeting)

5.21 Classroom and Staffroom Decoration


• Class teachers decorate the classrooms.
• Teachers get ready for the first day of the new academic year.
