CHAPTER-1
INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND
INDUSTRY

1.1 An Overview of the Organization

The financial organization and industry play an important role in any country's economic
landscape, acting as the backbone that allows capital and resources to flow more freely.
In essence, these institutions provide the infrastructure for businesses, individuals, and
governments to manage their finances, investments, and risks. The financial industry
includes a wide range of entities such as banks, insurance companies, investment firms,
and regulatory agencies.

Banks, as central players, provide critical services such as deposit taking, lending, and
transaction processing. They serve as intermediaries between those with excess capital
and those in need of funds. Insurance companies, on the other hand, reduce risks by
providing coverage against a variety of uncertainties, ensuring stability for both
individuals and businesses. Investment firms and markets help to allocate capital by
connecting investors to opportunities to invest in stocks, bonds, and other financial
instruments.

Regulatory bodies oversee and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the financial
system's stability and integrity, protecting both investors and the general public. The
financial industry is constantly evolving, influenced by global economic trends,
technological advancements, and regulatory changes. Its health and efficiency are critical
to driving economic growth, job creation, and overall prosperity. Understanding and
navigating the complexities of the financial sector is critical for both individuals and
organizations, as they affect many aspects of daily life and business operations.

Regulatory bodies monitor and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the financial
system's stability and integrity, thereby protecting both investors and the general public.
The financial industry is constantly evolving in response to global economic trends,

1
technological advancements, and regulatory changes. Its health and efficiency are critical
for promoting economic growth, job creation, and overall prosperity. Understanding and
navigating the complexities of the financial sector is critical for both individuals and
organizations, as they have an impact on many aspects of daily life and business
operations.

Furthermore, the financial industry promotes global economic stability by providing risk
management tools and insurance services to protect businesses and governments from
uncertainty. The financial sector operates currency markets, which facilitate foreign
exchange transactions and enable countries to engage in international trade and
investment. These mechanisms help to allocate resources more efficiently, which
promotes global economic development and innovation.

Furthermore, the financial industry plays an important role in cross-border capital

allocation, influencing investment decisions and the development of emerging markets.
As technology advances, financial services become more interconnected and accessible,
allowing individuals and businesses to better participate in the global economy.

However, the global financial industry faces numerous challenges, including regulatory
complexities, geopolitical uncertainties, and the need for improved cybersecurity
measures. Nonetheless, its ability to adapt and innovate is critical for navigating the ever-
changing landscape of the interconnected global economy. Overall, the financial
industry's importance in promoting economic interconnectedness and providing tools for
long-term global growth cannot be overstated.

It promotes economic growth and stability by directing funds towards productive

investments, fostering entrepreneurship, and encouraging innovation. Financial
institutions, particularly multinational banks and investment firms, serve as
intermediaries between surplus capital in one part of the world and areas where it is
required for economic activity.

International trade is heavily reliant on the financial industry for payment and settlement
services. Financial institutions facilitate cross-border trade by using mechanisms such as
letters of credit, international wire transfers, and currency exchange. This, in turn, helps
2
to boost economic growth by expanding markets, encouraging specialization, and
allowing countries to capitalize on their comparative advantages.

The financial industry also plays an important role in global risk management.
International insurers provide insurance services that protect businesses and governments
from a variety of risks, including natural disasters and political instability. Financial
institutions operate derivative markets, which allow them to hedge against changes in
currency exchange rates, interest rates, and commodity prices. This risk-mitigation
function is critical for boosting confidence in the global economic system.

The financial industry relies heavily on global capital allocation. Investment firms and
funds deploy capital across regions and industries, influencing the growth of emerging
markets and supporting projects that promote sustainable development. This global
capital flow has the potential to boost economies, create jobs, and drive technological
advancement.

The global financial industry also faces challenges. Regulatory disparities between
countries can complicate cross-border transactions. Geopolitical tensions and
uncertainties can have an impact on financial markets, influencing investor confidence
and capital flows. Cybersecurity threats jeopardize the integrity of financial systems as
well as individuals' privacy.

The financial industry's impact on the global economy is multifaceted. It facilitates

international trade, promotes economic development, manages risks, and plays an
important role in capital allocation. Its resilience and adaptability are critical for
navigating the complexities and challenges of today's interconnected global economy.

India's financial industry is critical to the country's economic development and stability.
As an important pillar of the economy, the financial sector includes a wide range of
institutions such as banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), insurance
companies, and capital markets.

One of the primary functions of India's financial industry is the efficient mobilization and
allocation of capital. Banks, as key players, transfer funds from savers to borrowers,

3
thereby assisting businesses, infrastructure projects, and individual aspirations. The
availability of credit and financial services empowers entrepreneurs and stimulates
economic activity, thereby driving innovation and job creation.

The financial industry plays an important role in promoting financial inclusion in India.
With initiatives like the Jan Dhan Yojana, the sector has worked to provide banking and
financial services to the unbanked and underprivileged. This not only empowers
individuals by providing access to formal financial systems, but it also helps the country's
overall economic development.

Furthermore, the insurance sector of the financial industry protects individuals and
businesses from a variety of risks, providing a safety net that increases resilience in the
face of uncertainty. Capital markets, such as the stock and bond markets, help businesses
and governments raise funds for expansion and infrastructure development.

The Indian financial industry serves as a catalyst for technological advancements by

promoting the adoption of digital financial services and fintech innovations. The adoption
of technologies such as mobile banking, digital wallets, and online investment platforms
has not only improved consumer convenience, but also increased the efficiency and
transparency of financial transactions.

Overall, the financial industry in India cannot be overemphasized. It is a key driver of

economic growth, promotes financial inclusion, reduces risks, and encourages innovation.
The sector's dynamism and adaptability are critical for navigating the country's changing
economic landscape, making it a key component in India's journey to becoming a
globally competitive and economically resilient nation.

The financial industry in India has far-reaching implications beyond its traditional role,
actively contributing to the country's economic and social fabric. One of the most
important contributions is the mobilization and allocation of capital, which drives
economic activity and development. Indian banks, both public and private, play an
important role in facilitating credit for businesses, infrastructure projects, and individuals,
thereby encouraging investments that lead to job creation and economic growth.

4
Finally, India's financial industry is a driving force behind economic growth, social
empowerment, and technological progress. Its multifaceted contributions, ranging from
capital allocation to financial inclusion and technological innovation, make it an essential
partner in India's path to sustainable development and economic prosperity.

ORGANIZATION UNDER STUDY.

Mckensy’s 7S model
Mckensy’s 7S model was developed by Robert Waterman and Tom Peters during early
1980s by the two consultants Mckensy’s Consulting organization. The model is a
powerful tool for assessing and analyzing the changes in the internal situation of an
organization. It is based on 7 key elements, which determine the organization’s success,
which should be interdependent and aligned for producing synergistic outcomes. The
Mckensy’s 7S model refers to the seven key interrelated or integrated elements of an
organization which are subdivided into hard and soft elements:

o The Hard elements are within the direct control of the management as it can be easily
defined and identified. The hard element includes Strategy, system and Structure.
o The Soft elements are less tangible and are difficult to be defined and identified as
such elements are more governed by the culture. But according to the proponents of
this model, these soft elements are equally important as the hard elements in
determining an organization’s success as well as growth in the industry. It includes
Shared value, staff, Style and skill.

Porter’s Five Force Model

According to Michael Porter the Five Forces at work inside an industry can be assessed to
clarify that industry's potential gainfulness. As an industry makes industry benefits the
members of every one of the five powers will 'plan' to siphon gainfulness from that industry.
Porter Five Forces is an all- encompassing technique system that removed key choice from
simply investigating the current competition. Porter Five Forces centers around - how
Financial Services can manufacture a reasonable upper hand in Credit Services industry.
Directors at Financial Services cannot just utilize Porter Five Forces to build up a key
situation with in Credit Services industry yet in addition can investigate productive open
doors in entire financial sector.

29
Figure No 3.3 Porter’s Five Force Model

I. Threat of new entrants

New participants in Credit Services brings advancement, better approaches for getting
things done and put focus on Financial Services through lower evaluating system,
lessening costs, and giving new incentives to the clients. Find Financial Services needs to
deal with every one of these difficulties and fabricate successful boundaries to shield its
serious edge. There won't be any new enormous mass-showcase players, yet there will be
new autonomous agent seller players just as discounters, banks, insurance agencies and
credit associations. Consider well the free shops where an intermediary can open for
business actually overnight.

II. Bargaining power of suppliers

All most all the organizations in the Credit Services industry purchase their crude
material from various providers. Providers in predominant position can diminish the
edges Financial Services can win in the market. Ground-breaking providers in financial
sector utilize their arranging capacity to separate more significant expenses from the
organizations in Credit Services field. The general effect of higher provider dealing
power is that it brings down the general benefit of Credit Services.
30
III. Bargaining power of buyers

Buyers are frequently a requesting part. They need to purchase the best contributions
accessible by following through on the base cost as could be expected under the
circumstances. This put focus on Financial Services gainfulness over the long haul. The
littler and all the more remarkable the client base is of Financial Services the higher the
haggling intensity of the clients and higher their capacity to look for expanding limits and
offers. Gone are the days when the business had all the data. In the 80's the telephone
would ring around evening time and the ends of the week with speculators searching for a
clarification for the drop in AT&T's stock. The paper was the main spot to get a statement
at that point and if AT&T went ex-profit it used to be sufficient to make a call.

IV. Threat of substitute product or services

What is it the organizations in the wealth management industry give? Wealth move,
wealth conservation and wealth creation. Wealth Transfer can be dealt with by insurance
agencies, and they do a ton! Wealth Preservation by banks, trust organizations, disaster
protection organizations. Wealth Creation in this nation has consistently experienced the
making of organizations; long, slow restrained contributing; karma with corporate
investment opportunities; land and other non-financial markets; these not the space of
expanded financial services organizations.

V. Rivalry among existing competitors

These organizations assault each other's neighborhood shops offering checks running
from 200% to 300% of the financial consultant's trailing year creation. One organization
had around 6500 Advisors during the 90's. Enrolling wars were warming up at that point.
Quick forward 13 years, they despite everything have around 6500 Advisors regardless of
3 acquisitions and 13 years of selecting. The business has been totally fixed in the value
inquire about divisions since 2003; sometime in the past the nature of research was a
differentiator and the competition to offer the best exhortation was angry. There is no
competition to be the least cost supplier, competition on costs is left up the counsel sitting
before the customer generally.
31

CHAPTER-5
ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

Introduction

Examining a company's performance in light of its industry and economic environment in

order to make a decision or recommendation is known as financial analysis. Financial
analysts frequently make judgements and suggestions about lending money to businesses,
particularly regarding whether and how much to invest in the company's debt or equity
instruments.

Evaluating the company's capacity to create enough cash to meet commitments and seize
opportunities, grow operations profitably, and achieve a return on capital that is at least
equal to the capital's cost is a major focus of financial analysis.

5.1 Profit and Loss Account

The profit and loss account is the one used to determine a company's annual net profit or
loss. The gross profit or loss of a business is calculated using the trade account. The net
profit is calculated by subtracting all indirect costs—that is, business-related expenses—
from the gross profit using the profit and loss account. The profit and loss account therefore
begins with the outcome of the trading account.

All the information required to generate the profit and loss statement is contained in the
trial balance. It considers solely indirect revenues and indirect expenses. The gross profit
or gross loss from a trading account is the starting point for this account. Gross profit is
shown on the credit side of the profit and loss account and gross loss is shown on the
debit side. All indirect costs are received by the debit side of this account, while all
indirect income is received by the credit side. "Net profit" results when the credit side's
total surpasses the debit side's total, while "net loss" occurs when the debit side's total
exceeds the credit side's total. The net profit or loss for a specific accounting period is
ascertained using the profit and loss account.

5.2 Balance Sheet

A balance sheet is a financial statement that shows the assets, liabilities, and equity of a
corporation at a certain point in time. These balance sheet categories inform investors
about the company's assets and liabilities, as well as the amount of money invested by
shareholders.

The mathematical methodology is used to create the balance sheet:

Assets = Liabilities + Shareholders' Equity

A balance sheet is a snapshot of a company's financial status at a specific point in time,

commonly calculated every quarter, six months, or a year. Assets and liabilities are the
two key headings on a balance sheet.

Assets

Accounts are displayed from top to bottom in the assets sector in order of liquidity, or the
ease with which they can be turned into cash. They are separated into two categories:
current assets (those that can be converted to cash in one year or less) and non-current or
long-term assets (those that cannot be converted to cash easily).

Liabilities

Liabilities are the sums of money owed to third parties by a corporation, ranging from
bills owed to suppliers to interest on bonds issued to creditors to rent, utilities, and
salaries. Current obligations are those that are due within a year and are listed in
chronological order. After one-year, long-term liabilities are due at any time.

Shareholder’s Equity

The money attributable to a company's owners, or shareholders, is known as shareholders

‘equity. It's also called "net assets" since it's equal to a company's total assets less its
liabilities, or the debt it owes to non-shareholders.

Ratio Analysis

A basic arithmetical statement of one number to another is a ratio analysis. It's the
specified quotient of two mathematical expressions, for example. The ratio analysis is a
financial statement examination and interpretation technique. It's a method of
calculating and evaluating various ratios in order to assist in making judgments. It is
merely a tool for gaining a better knowledge of a company's financial strength and
weaknesses.

1. CRRENT RATIO

It is one of the most extensively utilized methods for determining a concern's liquid
position. It is used to assess a company's solvency and short-term financial strength. It
shows the link between a company's present assets and liabilities. The current ratio can be
represented as follows in the form of an equation:

Current Ratio = Total Current Assets

5 2023 9619800000 5011900000 1.92

42
Interpretation

The above table represents the current Ratio from 2019 to 2023. The current ratio in
2018- 19 is 2.05 times, 2019-20 is 1.87 times, 2020-21 is 1.82 times 2021-22 is 1.74
times and 2022-23 is 1.92 times. The ratio has increased from 2018-19 to 2020-22 and
then it was decreases for the year 2020-21 and again decreased in the financial year 2021-
22 and then increased in the financial year 2022-23. The company is no more capable for
pay its obligation.

2. QUICK OR ACID TEST RATIO

The quick ratio, also known as the acid-test ratio is a type of liquidity ratio, which
measures the ability of a company to use its near cash or quick assets to extinguish or
retire its current liabilities immediately.

Quick Ratio = Quick Assets

Quick Liabilities

Interpretation

The year 2020 revealed the highest current assets turnover ratio of 0.47 among the five
years, followed by 0.46 in the year 202019 and 2021. This high current asset turnover

demonstrates the organization’s capacity to maximize sales while investing less in current
assets. Higher the current asset higher will be the circumstances. But the ratio dropped
down in the following year indicating decline in the efficiency of utilizing the working
capital. The above chart also depicts an increasing trend in the current asset’s turnover
ratio from 0.47 in 2021. While looking at other ratio, these three years show a lower
value, indicating that the company is not efficiently employing its assets and may be
experiencing, internal issues.

5. FIXED ASSET TURNOVER RATIO

The ratio of fixed assets to total assets is used to compare a company's state revenue to its
fixed assets. This ratio explains how fixed assets are used effectively and efficiently to
increase revenue. This ratio is used to calculate the productivity of fixed assets in
producing revenue. It can be assumed that the company's fixed assets are being managed
well if the ratio is high. The most crucial ratio in ratio analysis is the fixed asset turnover
ratio.

Fixed Assets Turnover Ratio = Net Sale

Interpretation

The fixed asset turnover ratio for the years 2019 through 2021 is displayed in the table
above. The fixed asset turnover ratio stood at 2.39 in 2019. The ratio was 3.52 in 2020
and 5.58 in 2021. It implies that management is utilizing its fixed assets more effectively.
A high debt-to-total-assets ratio doesn't tell you anything about a company's potential to
generate steady cash flows or profits.
