Laundry Detergents As A Cleansing Agent
Introduction

Laundry detergents are a cleansing agent that is widely used in the industry to clean
laundry. The term detergent refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including Alkyl
Sulphonates, which are similar to soap but less affected by hard water (Farlex, 2014).
Like soap, detergent increases the ability of water to penetrate fabric and break down
greases and dirt, however they are derived from organic acids rather than fatty acids
(Mifflin, 2005). A detergent is an ion or molecule that contains both polar and nonpolar
components. The polar component allows the detergent to dissolve in the water,
whereas the nonpolar component solubilizes greasy materials that are the usual target
of the cleaning process. Their molecules then surround the particles of grease and dirt,
allowing them to be carried away thus leaving your clothes clean. This EEI explores the
performance of two different laundry powders (Fab and Woolworths select Home brand)
in different types of water; ranging from soft to hard. These detergents were compared
and analysed in different types of water from varying locations to determine whether
water hardness has an effect on the cleaning ability of detergents, and whether products
should be specifically formulated depending on the type of water.

Persuasive Animal Shelter Essay
Every year in the United States lots of lost, abandoned, or not wanted dogs and cats
come to the animal shelters. Out of these animals some are lucky to be adopted into a
responsible loving home, but there are still lots of animals not in home causing even
healthy animals being euthanized due to the capacity of the shelter. There are clear
solutions for overpopulated shelters that society need to keep in mind. In this report will
cover spray and neuter, euthanasia, adoption, and animal shelters.

Spray and Neuter

Every year many animals are killed in the United States animal shelters, because the
animals can t find a home. Many can say reproduction has a big deal to with the
overpopulation in animal shelter, and they are right. Male animals contribute in animal
overpopulation due to them not being sterilized. One unsterilized male can make a lot
of babies with a lot of female animals. Irresponsible owner let their pets breed, when the
owner can t take care of the litter usually those animals are dropped of animal shelters

The animal that are not put in shelters are put out in the street to survive by themselves
and exposed themselves to disease. Because of low funding shelters it causes
overpopulation in shelters because there s no funding for more space, supplies, and
staff. Lots of shelters take volunteers but some don t even have the experiences to deal
with the situation that they will be faced. Many animal shelters do not have veterinarians
/hospitals to help animals, most veterinarian only open half the day then full time duty.
Low funding is one of the causes why animal shelters are overpopulated, because if there
was a solution were the government were to spend more money on animal shelters it
helps animals get into homes faster, and not worry about being in the streets. Many
shelters accept donation for food, pet supplies, and time to help around the shelters, that

The Cultural and Political Life of Saudi Arabia Essay
Crimes punishable by the death sentence in Saudi Arabia include murder, serious attacks
on the Islam religion, adultery, dress codes, and since 1987, drug smuggling. Under
Saudi Arabian law, serious crimes merit serious consequences. Repeated theft is
punishable by amputation of the right hand, administered under anesthetic. Because most
meals in Saudi Arabiaare eaten by hand from a communal bowl and only the right hand
may touch the food, this punishment effectively bans the convicted thief from society.
The severity of this punishment has led to a slight softening of the law in recent years;
now if the thief repents and makes restitution before the case is brought before a judge,
the punishment can be reduced... furthermore, the victim... Show more content on

First time offenders face some combination of prison terms, floggings, and fines: those
convicted a second time face execution. Within two years, this ruling, coupled with a
new antidrug campaign, resulted in a sixty percent drop in drug addiction and twenty six
percent reductions in drug use. Saudi officials now claim that the kingdom has the
lowest rate of drug addiction in the world, which they attributed to harsh punishment and
the religious convictions of ordinary Saudis. (Aburish, The House of Saud, 1994) In the
United States those who are convicted of drug smuggling will be convicted and will
have to serve time in prison, and fines will be placed upon them. Also, second time
offenders will have a substantial amount of prison time to face but there is no execution
punishment for drug smuggling.
In addition, there are those who are being persecuted for their religious beliefs. When
Islam gained control of Saudi Arabia thirteen hundred years ago, all Christians were
expelled from the country. The nation considers itself the guardian of Islam s Holiest
sites and all other religions are forbidden. Since the death of King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz
in August 2005 and subsequent election of King Abdullah, there have been increased
discussions of reform in Saudi Arabia. However, attacks against Christians and human
rights abuses have in fact been on the rise since King Abdullah came into power. The
country continues to have one of the worst human rights
Education was Never My Strong Suit
As a young student growing up, literacy and numeracy were never my strongest areas
of learning. The memories of my teachers asking us to divide into reading groups for
reading comprehension, or pull out our maths homework were always daunting for
me and I remember a time where my teacher made me stay during lunch to complete
my maths class work. However as a young student I have always enjoyed spelling and
although my literacy and numeracy skills weren t the greatest I felt more confident
that my language skills were a lot better than both my literacy and numeracy skills.
Looking back as I progressed through my schooling career, my literacy skills begun to
improve, however numeracy would still remain the subject I disliked the most. In
comparison to my peers, who were all just about my age, I felt as if I was under
achieving in those specific areas of learning, and despite the countless attempts and
efforts by my peers, teachers, tutors and parents who all encouraged me, I felt as if I
could not reach that point. In relation to week 2 lecture readings (Catherine , Snow
(2002) Reading for understanding: toward a research and development program in reading
comprehension. CA/USA: RAND) the students attentiveness towards reading
comprehension, is influenced and affected by many factors including
