 ­Colorwork Yoke Sweater
Notes:
Modern, graphic colorwork covers the circular yoke of this
pullover. A herringbone post stitch pattern placed on lower
body and sleeves echoes the lines of the yoke. Challenge
yourself to learn new techniques like stranded crochet and
post stitches in this winter wardrobe staple.
This sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. Yoke
increases are worked directly into the fair isle patterning.
Carry all colors used in any given round throughout that
round, changing colors as indicated on the chart. To change
colors: on the last stitch before a color change, work the
stitch in the current color up to the last pull through the
stitch, pull through with the new color.
Front Post Treble Crochet 2 Together Cluster (FPtr2tog-CL)
Work a FPtr2tog as follows [YO] 2 times, insert hook around
the SC from 2 rows below (2 sts before the next SC), [YO and
pull through 2 lps on hk] 2 times, [YO] 2 times, insert hook
around the SC from 2 rows below (2 sts ahead of the next st),
[YO and pull through 2 lps on hk] 2 times, YO and pull
through all lps on hk.
Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
Chain 3. YO, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook, YO and pull up
lp (3 lps on hook). YO and draw through 1 lp (1 ch made). YO
and draw through 2 lps 2 times—1 foundation double crochet
made. *YO, insert hook under the 2 lps of the ch at the
bottom of the stitch just made, YO and pull up lp (3 lps on
hook). YO and draw through 1 lp (1 ch made), (YO and draw
through 2 lps) 2 times. Repeat from *.
Split Stitch Single Crochet (SSSC)
Insert hook in the center of the st between its 2 legs, YO, pull
up a lp to the height of a SC, YO, pull through both lps on
hook.
Note: Take care not to work sts too tightly. Aim to keep the
tension a bit loose.
Post Stitch Ribbing (in the round over an even number
of sts)
Rnd 1: Ch 1, FPDC around first st, BPDC around next st,
*FPDC around next st, BPDC around next st; rep from * to
end, join with sl st to beg FPDC.
Rep Rnd 1 for pattern.
Herringbone (in the round over a multiple 4 of sts)
Setup Rnds 1-2: SC all, join with sl st to beg SC.
Rnd 1: SC in first 2 SC, *FPtr2tog-CL, sk next SC, SC in next
3 SC; rep from * to last SC, SC in last SC, join with sl st to
beg SC.
Rnd 2: SC all, join with sl st to beg SC.
Rep Rnds 1-2 for pattern.

DIRECTIONS
Collar
With C2 and smaller hook, FDC 70 (74, 78, 82, 86, 90), join
with sl st to beg FDC, being careful not to twist.
(Alternatively, ch 70 (74, 78, 82, 86, 90), join with sl st to beg
ch, ch 3 (counts as DC), DC in bottom bump of each ch
across, join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.)
Work in Post Stitch Ribbing patt until piece measures 1.5”,
changing to MC on last st.
Setup Rnd: SC around, increasing 0 (6, 12, 18, 24, 30) SC
evenly across. 70 (80, 90, 100, 110, 120) SC.
Yoke
Change to larger hook. Note: The colorwork section of the
yoke is worked in a spiral. Do not join rounds. Carry all colors
used in any given round throughout that round, changing
colors as indicated on the chart. The first few rounds of the
chart are written out below.
Rnds 1-2: *SSSC MC, SSSC C1, SSSC C2, SSSC C1, SSSC
MC; rep from * to end. Pattern will be repeated 14 (16, 18, 20,
22, 24) times across rnd.
Rnd 3: *SSSC MC, SSSC C1, SSSC C2, SSSC C1, SSSC MC,
SSSC MC in same SC as last st; rep from * to end. 14 (16, 18,
20, 22, 24) SC increased.
Continue as established through Rnd 26 of Yoke chart,
joining with sl st to beg SC of rnd at the end of Rnd 26. 224
(256, 288, 320, 352, 384) SC. Break all colors except MC.
Yoke measures approximately 6”.
Change to smaller hook. Work Setup Rnds 1-2 of Herringbone
pattern. Rep Rnds 1-2 of Herringbone pattern until Yoke
measures 7.5 (8.25, 9, 9.75, 10.5, 11)”, ending with Rnd 2 of
pattern.
Separate Body and Sleeves
Rnd 1: Work Rnd 1 of herringbone patt over 64 (76, 88, 100,
112, 124) Back sts, ch 8 (all sizes) for underarm, sk next 48
(52, 56, 60, 64, 68) Sleeve sts, work in established pattern
over 64 (76, 88, 100, 112, 124) Front sts, ch 8 for underarm, sk
next 48 (52, 56, 60, 64, 68) Sleeve sts. 144 (168, 192, 216, 240,
264) sts rem for Body.
Rnd 2: *Work Rnd 2 of herringbone pattern to ch-8 sp, SC in
each ch; rep from * once more.
Work even in pattern until piece measure 14” from underarm,
ending with Rnd 1 of pattern, switching to C2 on last st.
Hem
Work in Post Stitch Ribbing for 2”, changing to MC on last st.
Next Rnd: With MC, ch 1, BPHDC around each st around,
join with sl st to beg BPHDC. Fasten off.
Collar Edging
Join MC to beg of rnd with RS facing and smaller hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, BPHDC around each st around, join with sl st to
beg BPHDC. Fasten off.
 Sleeves Cuff
Rnd 1: Beg at center of Body underarm, smaller hook, and Change to larger hook. Work Rnds 1-9 of Cuff chart.
MC, sc in 4 ch sts, work in established pattern over 48 (52, Dec Rnd: Work Rnd 10 of Cuff chart, decreasing 6 (6, 4, 4, 2,
56, 60, 64, 68) skipped Sleeve sts, sc in rem 4 ch sts from 2) sts evenly across. 36 (36, 38, 38, 40, 40) sts rem.
