Comparing Comparison And Contrast Of Alfred Hitchcock s...
Comparison and Contrast

Recently while watching two old film classics, Vertigo and Notorious, I found myself
thinking of other movies directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Most of his movies have many
things in common, while remaining completely independent of each other. These two
films have different plots, actors, and most obvious one is filmed in color the other black
and white. Which leads me to believe that Alfred Hitchcock really knew what he was
about; as a result his films all a have a distinctive theme about them. Both films keep
you in a state of anticipation as the stories unfold and reveal the twist and turns that
Alfred Hitchcock was famous for. Notorious was written in 1946 a year after World War
II came to an end and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cinematography of each film was thought out and tells us the story. So dialogue
was not really needed, you could read the movies by listening to the music and
watching the shifting patterns of light and shadow. Alfred Hitchcock was famous for
using point of view shot, it is most noticeable in Notorious where Alicia in lying in bed
after a night of drinking and the camera follows her upside down, so you feel a little
unbalanced yourself while the scene is taking place. During the movie Vertigo the way
the camera angles, scenes, point of view shots and the story itself creates the effect of the
viewer having vertigo themselves. The music tells the story in Vertigo, you know when
something new happens or is about to, it was well timed and must have taken awhile to
get it right, timing must have been everything. In Notorious the camera tells the story, the
anticipation, you can feel the anxiety mount in the scene where Alicia and Alex have a
party, they invite T.R.Devlin (played by Cary Grant) to attend. Before the party Alicia
steals the key to the wine cellar where the secret the German s are hiding is purported
to be. The scene where she is holding the key clutched in her hand, the camera zooms
in, you can almost see the sweat building in her palm as her body head heat sup the key
and I am sure the anxiety building in her heightens her awareness of that key. The camera
zooms totally into her hand, it s an amazing
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
In this case, the relevant parties are Bilbo Baggins acting as plaintiff, and Orc
Industries Corporation acting as defendant. This case originates from the dismissal of
Baggins as an employee of Orc Industries in May 2007 under the grounds of dishonesty
and for coming to work under the influence of alcohol. Orc Industries hired Baggins in
December 2006 to assist in the construction of a foundry. After organizing agreements
with unions and contractors, Baggins was accused by Orc Industries for arriving at
work drunk, citing an empty whiskey bottle found in his desk as evidence. The main
issue in this case is Orc Industries terminated Baggin s employment without just cause.
It is stated in the law that, If an employer alleges they had cause for the dismissal, the
burden is on them to prove that there was just cause (Ministry of Labour). The definition
of just cause is described as the conduct that amounts to a fundamental breach of the
employment contract , which in this case there was a lack of sufficient evidence to
support that any breach of the contract had occurred (Canada Legal). Orc Industries
claims that the empty bottle of whiskey is sufficient proof, although this is not
conclusive evidence that Baggins was ever drunk at work and thus is not sufficient
grounds for terminating his employment (DuPlessis et al, 2013). Since Orc Industries
did not fulfill their burden of proof for just cause to dismiss Baggins, Baggins can
successfully sue Orc Industries for wrongful

Women, Law, and Equality Essay
In the past 3 decades, women made great advancements in the workforce. First, they
have become an integral part of the labour market; they have access to higher education
and consequently to traditionally male dominated professions such as medicine, law
and business. While statistics show that women are equal to men in terms of their
numbers in the law profession, it is not clear however, whether they have achieved
equality in all other areas of their employment. In this paper, I will examine women s
experiences in the law profession; whether women are earning equal salary compared to
the male lawyers, do they still face barriers that are genderrelated and whether they have
broken the glass ceiling in a profession that is supposed to be... Show more content on

66).

Women have demonstrated that they possess the academic capability to go through law
school. For example Clara Brett Martin, the first woman to become a lawyer , had
essentially paved the way for the following generations to be accepted into the law
profession, however, many of the barriers that she had to face are still in existence,
starting with the male attitudes towards women lawyers to hiring discriminatory
practices in firms and general cultural attitudes towards the role of women lawyer.

Historically women have had to fight to get equal access to the profession and to the
practice of law however, as late as the 1970 women were refused partnerships within
firm even after they have demonstrated that they are capable of doing the job. For
example, Judge Carolyn king who had practiced corporate law for 10 years at one of
the highly established firm, and according to her account had a great experience and
her career path proceeded exactly like the career paths of men, was refused partnership
simply because she was a woman. She was told later that the possibility of her getting
pregnant and taking parental leave was the main reason for being refused partnership
(Jackson, 2006). While legislations have been put now to ensure that discrimination on
the basis of sex is illegal, researchers agree that systemic discrimination, which is largely
unintentional still exist at all levels and its impact touches on women s inability to reach
high ranking positions
Sonoran Desert Ecosystem Lab Report
There are different sorts of environments scattered over the earth, but what and where are
they? In World Biodiversity Expedition, the reader is to collect data about these
organisms and the environment they are settled at. A biome is often mistaken as an
ecosystem, however, it is defined by non living factors such as climate, soils, and
vegetation. This unit helped me understand more clearly that there are so many
organisms that I did not know anything about. I learned a lot from this specific unit when
it comes to discoverying animals and organisms that I did not know exist.
Firstly, we are going to survey life and environments at the Sonoran Desert with
temperatures reaching 118℉ with over 16 inches of rain each year in total. The Desert ...

with lengths and width of 29.9 meters. Whales bodies coloration is grey white on the
ventral side while the dorsal side is blue gray. Nearly 2,000 9,000 pounds of Krill can
fill a fully grown Blue whale daily, nearly 8,000 pounds of Krill is eaten during the
whales peak consumption period. The next organism I identified is the Antartctic krill
that is 6 centimeters in length. This animals is consumed by many marine animals such
as the Blue whale, but what does the krill eat? The Antartctic krill consumes
phytoplankton which is a componet of the Plankton family. Although the krill is
transparent, it has coloration such as red, pink, yellow and blue.
In conclusion, one can see that there are organisms that they may not have known exist
or know anything about. This unit takes the reader around the world to observe beginiing
with the Soran Desert, Antarctica, Yellowstone, Great Barrier Reef, Deep Ocean, and
Central Park. Learning about habitats and the settled life forms that thrive for survival.

and length. Frigid climates have animals that are adapted to
When Doctors Should Have Taken Away Essay
How would you feel if your doctor was a criminal that was still allowed to practice
medicine? Or a Nazi doctor that did terrible things to Jews? What about someone who
has had three botched brain surgeries within three months? All of these situations have
actually occurred. Therefore, when doctors get their medical license taken away, they
shouldn t be able to get it back. In a court trial, they have to be found guilty of the
crime they committed, to get their license revoked. For example, if doctors have to go
to court, three basic things can happen with their medical license. First, it can be taken
away. Second, it can be suspended for a period of time. Finally, they can keep it and go
on probation with certain restrictions. When on probation,... Show more content on

We have always been told to give people second chances, well when does that stop?
What line do people have to cross to not get a second chance? A mistake could cost a
life, or permanently change one life or several lives. In the case of Dennis Quaid, it
could have taken both his twins lives. The twins had to be treated with heparin and were
supposed to be given 10 mL instead received 10,000 mL, that is 1,000 times the needed
amount. The hospital stated later that nobody checked the dosage at the supplier or the
pediatric center. This is only one example of how mistakes happen when protocols are
not followed. Should the doctors and pediatricians get a second chance, what if this
happened and they didn t realize it in time? The doctors didn t end up losing their
licenses, but the hospital was sued for $750,000. The twins could have died or suffered
permanent damage. Obviously, more could have been done to prevent this accident. The
doctors, nurses and other medical professionals have to be held to higher standards when
lives are on the line.
