ABSTRACT

One of the hardest to achieve during this Covid-19 pandemic is Food Security. Food

security, as defined by the United Nations' Committee on World Food Security. Before and

during the pandemic, hunger was already an issue and for some reason, we are far from solving

the matter. This study aims to determine the Backyard Gardening as a Means to Food Security

during the Covid 19 Pandemic in Selected Barangays of Anda, Pangasinan. The result of this

study would be a great help to the government, students, community, readers, and the future

researchers.

The backyard gardening will help to lessen the burden amidst the COVID 19 pandemic.

And it'd also as advantage to provide for Food security. This study focuses on the reasons why

Backyard gardening became the temporary response for food security during the COVID-19

pandemic. This was conducted at five selected barangays in Anda, Pangasinan which are

barangay Roxas, Dolaoan, Namagbagan, Poblacion and San Jose during the second semester

academic year 2021-2022. The respondents of this study will cover 12 families in every 5

barangays of Anda, Pangasinan.

This study used survey questionnaire to gather data that are going to support the study.

The researchers conduct a survey in selected barangays inside the boarder of Anda. This study

entitled “Backyard Gardening as a means to Food Security During Covid 19 Pandemic in

Selected Barangays of Anda.” In order to see the effects of backyard gardening the researchers’

gathered data and information through face-to-face visitation following the safe health protocols.

The result of the study showed that majority of the respondents have one hundred percent

participation in backyard gardening. However, some of the respondents have less space for

backyard gardening.
After the study, we therefore conclude that the residence of selected barangays in Anda,

Pangasinan are aware on the backyard gardening during COVID 19 pandemic. In backyard

gardening we can grow our health against COVID 19 pandemic. This research shows that

families who garden together, enjoy better health and we’ll being.
