DTM Stage 5 is about a country that is losing people because more are dying than being
born. But, the decrease in population doesn't happen right away. One of the countries
that is in stage 5 is Ukraine.

Due to the constant decrease of the birth rate Government are using a lot of money and
effort to create and implementing policies, such as giving jobs and house that can help
slow down this happening. But, whether these actions work or not is still being discussed.
This is because the choice to have kids or not depends on many things, like money
situations and what society and culture think is normal.

The reason why the population in Ukraine are decreasing even before the Covid-19 it is
because in the late 1960s and early 1970s, more people were dying than being born. The
number of babies born around the world dropped by half, and there were fewer big
families. Another one big reason why birth rate is declining is because people's lifestyles
are changing. It's taking more time and effort to have children. And years later, armed
conflict in 2014 happen in eastern Ukraine has killed more than 14,000 people in the
years since, according to International Crisis Group research. And by 2021, Ukraine's
population had shrunk by over 10 million people in 20 years during Covid-19.
