2 INTRODUCTION

Thank you for reaching out and providing us with the opportunity to visit CIMA Cement Bahau.
We are excited to learn more about the site and gain a better understanding of the areas related to
equipment that use grease and lubricants.
We appreciate that your party emphasized safety before entering the plant. Safety is of utmost
importance to us, and we will ensure that all necessary precautions are taken during our visit.
As per our previous conversation, we will be arriving on 26.01.2024. Our team from Essem and
Zurity is looking forward to the site visit and exploring the relevant areas starting at 10am. We
will make sure to bring all the necessary equipment and documentation needed for this visit.
Once again, we would like to express our gratitude for granting us this opportunity. We believe
that this visit will greatly contribute to our understanding of CIMA Cement Bahau and help us
provide better services and solutions in the future.

3 OBJECTIF

Objectives for the site visit at CIMA Cement Bahau are well-defined and comprehensive:

1. *Identifying Plant and Safety Conditions*: Assessing the overall safety measures and
conditions within the plant premises to ensure a secure working environment.

2. *Identifying Processes*: Understanding the various manufacturing processes involved in

cement production, from raw material handling to the final product.

3. *Identifying Equipment*: Identifying and examining the machinery and equipment used in the
cement manufacturing process, focusing on those that utilize grease and lubricants.

4. *Identifying Product Grease and Lubricants*: Identifying the types of grease and lubricants
used in the equipment and machinery, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.

5. *Description of Activities*: Providing a detailed description of the activities conducted during

the site visit, including observations, findings, and any recommendations for improvement in
safety, processes, equipment maintenance, and product quality.

By fulfilling these objectives, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of the plant's

operations, safety standards, equipment usage, and product specifications, enabling informed
decision-making and potential improvements.

REMARKS:
Based on our analysis, it seems that we require a little more than just an additional cement list, Ball Mill, motor
pump, and tank lubricants to meet the needs of preventive maintenance. While these components are
undoubtedly important, there may be other factors to consider as well.

In order to effectively maintain and preserve the equipment, it is essential to have a comprehensive approach in
place. This includes not only the aforementioned components but also a detailed maintenance schedule, regular
inspection protocols, and a well-trained team of technicians. By incorporating these elements, we can ensure
the longevity and optimal performance of the equipment.
5 TECHNICAL FOR EQUIPMENT
Lubricant quality in the Lubrication Reliability™ Program is a matter of managing the selected
lubricants in the best possible way bearing in mind the 6 “lubrication rights”
 Right Type
 Right Time
 Right Quantity
 Right Place
 Right Way
 Right Condition

It has been proven many times by independent organizations that bad lubrication is responsible
for over 60% of bearing / machine failures: here asset maintainers have sinned against one or
more of the 6 Lubrication Rights. Turning the bad practices into a Lubrication Reliability™
attitude will have a direct impact on fundamental machine health.
Aside from bearings, “best lube practices” should be applied to gear technology, hydraulics or
basically all lubrication related technologies. Time for a maintenance culture change with an
important Return-On-Investment

Conclusion is imperative that Lubrication Reliability™ should be implemented at the start of the
silent phase.

Lubrication Processes
Also, in all assessments we endeavor to define where a company is with their overall Lubrication
strategy. The 4 key areas of best practices cover:
 1 - the strategic part,
 2 - the controlling cleanliness and contamination part,
 3 - the data base management and reporting section
 4 - the lubrication knowledge and its application.

The bottom line is that we need to ensure that only clean oil is added to the machine and is
operating within it. Managing Particle Contamination There are 5 steps we need to consider in
managing our oil cleanliness and contamination levels. These are:

 Receipt of new oil.

 Storage and conditioning of new oil.
 Dispensing of the oil to the machines.
 Stopping contaminants entering the machine.
 Removing contaminants generated in the machine from wear.

Lubricant storage by cleanliness control.

Did you know that 10 ppm of water in a bearing lubricant will half the bearings lifetime. This is
the relative amount of two drops of water in a glass of great Belgian beer? Seriously!

Did you know that contamination is the cause of more than 30 % of lubrication related bearing
failures?

Did you know that new oils have commonly a higher contamination level than recommended by
the machine supplier?

These are Cleanliness, Contamination and Control and when combined they are generally
used as cleanliness control and contamination control.
Cleanliness control is the processes and tools to ensure only clean lubricants are added to the
equipment whereas Contamination Control is the processes and tools to ensure only clean
lubricants are operating in the equipment
So why the difference? In lubrication management we spend a lot of time, effort and money to
ensure the lubricants operating in our equipment are kept very clean, so why would we add dirty
oil to an already clean system, it makes our work even harder, not to mention more costly.

6 RECOMMENDATIONS
Certainly! Here are some specific recommendations for preventive maintenance and product
lubricants tailored to the needs of the CIMA Cement industry:

1. *Establish Lubrication Schedule*: Develop a comprehensive lubrication schedule for all

critical equipment, including cementalists, ball mills, motor pumps, and lubricant tanks,
specifying the type and frequency of lubrication required for each component.

2. *Select High-Quality Lubricants*: Choose lubricants that are specifically formulated for the
operating conditions and requirements of each piece of equipment. Ensure they provide adequate
protection against wear, corrosion, and contamination.

3. *Proper Storage and Handling*: Implement proper storage and handling practices for
lubricants to prevent contamination and degradation. Store lubricants in clean, sealed containers
and ensure they are properly labeled and stored according to manufacturer recommendations.

4. *Regular Oil Analysis*: Perform regular oil analysis on lubricants used in critical equipment
to monitor their condition and identify any signs of degradation, contamination, or excessive
wear. Use the results to adjust lubrication schedules or replace lubricants as needed.

5. *Optimize Lubrication Practices*: Train maintenance personnel on proper lubrication

techniques, including the correct quantity and application method for each lubricant. Implement
measures to minimize over-lubrication, which can lead to equipment damage and increased
maintenance costs.
