Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern,

I write to recommend Mr. Qasim Shah for Ph.D admission at your prestigious institution with full
confidence in his future success as a scholar and researcher. He is clearly an outstanding candidate
and the least I can do is provide my observations here.

Mr. Qasim Shah is academically gifted, but more importantly, a generous spirit. As his instructor at
National University of Science and Technology in the courses “Experimental design” and
“Statistical Inference”, I found him to be an extraordinarily informed and dedicated student. He
quickly stood apart from his peers, both in terms of the coursework and in class contributions. He
was always prepared to speak and respond, which is rare for students his age. As a result, he
reliably offered profound insights and raised thought provoking questions that roused other
students from their slumber. In fact, I consider him class leader and looked to him as a gauge for
how the class was going.

As you will gather from his history, Qasim Shah has combined his research interest with an earnest
commitment to study, understand and solve economic problems in his country through his
research. His potential is untold. On a personal level, Mr. Qasim Shah exhibits a high degree of
self-assuredness but is also a sensitive and respectful listener. I have every reason to believe Mr.
Qasim Shah is prepared for Ph.D study and beyond.

If you need further information about him, please do not hesitate to ask me.

Dr. Firdos Khan
