Setup DNS Server Configuration

Step 1: Tale 1 PC, 1 server and 1 Switch

Step 2: Setup the DNS server, by assigning it the IP address. Here the IP address and DNS Server IP
address should be same.

Step 3: Go to Services on this server. Choose HTTP option. SO as to setup a website. Edit the the
index.html part.
Step 4: Delete the highlighted content. Write the contents to be displayed on your website.
Step 5: Enable DNS in this server. Go to DNS services. Turn On DNS Service and give name to the
website. Address is the IP address of the server. And then add it.

Step 6: Go to the PC now. Assign IP address to PC.


Step 7: Open the Web Browser on the PC

Step 8: In the URL option type the name of the website or it’s IP address of the website u just linked
on DNS server, then it will display the content of that website.
Step 7: Now adding more contents in the Website display info. The change will be reflected in the
Website content.
Step 8: Now if you want to add one more PC in the network and want to assign a name to that PC.
SO that other systems can recognize that system with it’s name. Then, approach in the following
manner:
Assign Name to the system alongwith its IP address in the DNS server record.

Step 9: Now, the new system can ping the old system by name through the help of DNS server.
