CUT TO:

INT. THERAPISTS OFFICE. AFTERNOON

Idris and the therapist are sitting across from each other.
Idris has his arms crossed, avoiding eye contact, whilst the
Therapist has legs crossed and eyes locked on Idris.

THERAPIST
You said there was something you
wanted to talk about. You sounded
really worried over the phone.

IDRIS
Yes.. it’s... it’s nothing bad,
just a bit weird and I wanted your
opinion on it.

THERAPIST
Ok, tell me about it and I’ll let
you know what it’s about.

Idris takes a moment to think about what he is about to say.

IDRIS
Ok, remember when I told you I
could hear this voice in my head.

Therapist nods

IDRIS (CONT’D)
And you gave me the pills and told
me what to do and all that.

THERAPIST
Did they help?

IDRIS
Well, no.

Therapist look concerned.

IDRIS (CONT’D)
Sometimes I see myself doing
things, but I’m not doing them.

THERAPIST
What do you mean see yourself.
2.

IDRIS
How do I explain this... Let’s say
I’m sitting down here, I might see
myself walking across the room or
standing in a corner.

THERAPIST
Do you hear anything when it’s
there, does it speak to you?

IDRIS
Yh, It says things, negative
things. Things I feel about myself
but never say out loud.

THERAPIST
Are you ok with sharing some of
these thoughts?

Idris gives no response.

THERAPIST (CONT’D)
I know it’s scary to share, but
that is the only way you are going
to feel better.

IDRIS
But... talking about it makes me
think about it, and thinking about
it makes him talk.

THERAPIST
By him you mean...

IDRIS
Yes.

THERAPIST
Ok, just give one instance of when
this happened, and we’ll try to get
your mind off it after.

IDRIS
(still hesitant)
This morning... I was getting
ready, putting on my clothes. I
turn around and there I am saying
some of the most horrible things.

Takes a moment to collect himself.

IDRIS (CONT’D)
Things about my body, and how me
going here is a waste of time.
3.

SHADOW
(voice only)
I wasn’t wrong though.

The voice catches Idris’ attention, causing him to look

around the room franticly.

IDRIS
I can hear him... it... I don’t
even know what it is.

THERAPIST
Idris remember you’re here and he’s
not. You’re here in my office and
nothing is going to hurt you. Ok?
(pause) You know what, let me go
make you a cup of tea. Hmm?

Idris gives a shaky nod of approval.

Therapist slowly gets off her chair and walks towards the
door, opens it and leaves. The moment the door closes,
tension in the room rises. Idris’ eyes scour the room for any
signs of shadow.

His attention is caught by a voice coming from the corner.

The chair in the therapists working station slowly turns
around, revealing shadow.

Idris sits up.

SHADOW
Now we can actually talk...

Idris gives nothing in response but a terrified stare.

SHADOW (CONT’D)
Come on, don’t look at me like
that, I just want us to have a
little chat.

IDRIS
Chat about what?

SHADOW
Our little situation. Hang on.

Shadow disappears from his seat and reappears leaning on the

wall with a note pad.

SHADOW (CONT’D)
She takes notes doesn’t she? Do you
think she actually reads them?
4.

IDRIS
I don’t know.

SHADOW
There we go you’re talking. See
we’re one and the same. No need to
be scared.

This surprises Idris.

SHADOW (CONT’D)
Tell me, what about this (referring
to him and Idris) makes you
uncomfortable.

IDRIS
Everything... Nothing about this is
normal.

SHADOW
Well at this point we’re well past
normal love.

IDRIS
It’s also the way you speak to me.
This is the one time you haven’t
called me names.

SHADOW
I was never mean to you. Everything
I did, I did for you... for us.

Idris pauses and observes.

IDRIS
(getting angry)
Did for me? Verbally abusing me is
for me?

SHADOW
It’s going to make you better!
Stronger! You’re a man, you’re
supposed to be strong.

IDRIS
Make me strong by breaking me down?

SHADOW
You’re weak, fat, incapable of
being a man. What would mother
think of you?
5.

IDRIS
How dare you. How dare you bring up
mum!

SHADOW
Ok there’s no need to yell.

SHADOW (CONT’D)
It’s a subject we needed to talk
about. You’ve been playing pretend
in this room, it’s time for you to
grow up and be honest.

IDRIS
I am not ready to talk about her.

SHADOW
When are you going to be ready?
You’ll never be ready.

IDRIS
I will address it later with Dr
Leanne.

SHADOW
(pointing at the door)
Her? (laughs)

Shadow disappears and appears in the seat the therapist

previously left.

SHADOW (CONT’D)
Come on, lets play pretend. Let’s
avoid the truth... avoid what you
did to her.

Idris calls out for the therapist

IDRIS
Dr Leanne?! How long will you be
there for?

Nothing but silence is heard.

SHADOW
No one is coming for you. Face it.
Face what you’ve done.

IDRIS
I did nothing. She did it to
herself.

SHADOW
What did you make her do?
6.

IDRIS
I didn’t make her kill herself!

The room goes dead silent and the audience can see Idris has
been having a conversation with no one but himself.

Shadow puts his hands up in a non-confrontational manner.

Cs- SEB ENDING

SHADOW
(Looks directly at the
camera)
I think he’s actually lost it.

IDRIS
You and I both know what she was.
She was a horrible person and she
had what was coming.

Idris is talking to himself as the therpist from out side the

room says

THERAPIST
I’ve got your tea... sorry it took
so long it was the bloody microwave
