Critical Analysis of Kindness -Naomi Shihab Nye

Kindness Critical Analysis

Kindness

Naomi Shihab Nye

Before you know what kindness really is

You must lose things,

Feel the future dissolve in a moment

Like salt in a weakened broth.

What you held in your hand,

What you counted and carefully saved,

All this must go so you know

How desolate the landscape can be

Between the regions of kindness.

How you ride and ride

Thinking the bus will never stop,

The passengers eating maize and chicken

Will stare out the window forever.

Before you learn the tender gravity of kindness,

You must travel where the Indian in a white poncho

Lies dead by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Anna Maria Hong says similar things to Pamela Steed Hill. Hong says that Nye offers
that instead of being a random act, kindness is received after going through certain
experiences. She also enjoys the use of metaphors and personification. One great point
that Hong makes is that she believes that the Indian on the bus refers to feeling
uncomfortable or foreign in an environment. Most people look out the window instead
of embracing it. If this poem was compared to an event in real life, one might use an
example of going to a new school. When a kid or teenager enters a new territory, they
may not feel socially accepted at first. It is human nature that making friends is not an
easy task. That is why other peers should be kind toward new student. You never know
what kind of friend you might get unless you try. However, most people don t know what
being a new student is like unless they have actually been one themselves.

In conclusion, Naomi Shihab Nye has written a truly meaningful poem about the
meaningfulness of kindness. Once one knows what kindness really is, you will always
be reminded of it. However, Nye says that you must loose things in order to gain the full
feeling of it. She uses personification, free verse rhythm, simile, and alliteration to make
all of the most important points in this poem. Pamela Steed Hill and Anna Maria Hong
give their opinions, and overall, enjoyed this poem. Students should

It is against the law to drive while being intoxicated, so why do millions of people
believe this to be acceptable? Millions of families in our world today are struggling
with pain from the loss of a loved one. Over half of these families have lost their loved
ones to a drunk driver. As a result of what alcohol does to the body, impaired drivers
are unable to drive and are putting the other drivers lives on the line. When making the
judgment on whether or not to drive while being impaired, these people are unable to
think through all of the possible outcomes. These people do not think about all of the

Hypothyroidism
Discuss the criteria that must be met in order to diagnosis a patient with
hypothyroidism. Find the gold standard, best practice guidelines, or evidence based
information to support your answer.
Hypothyroidism is caused by the thyroid s gland inability to produce thyroid hormone as
required by the body. The diagnosis of hypothyroidism requires the laboratory testing of
the thyroid stimulating hormone known as TSH. When the TSH is found to be
elevated, a clinician should repeat the test along with a free thyroxine (T4)
measurement. If the TSH is found to be elevated, while the T4 is normal, the patient is
said to suffer from subclinical hypothyroidism. However, if the TSH is elevated and the
T4 is low, the diagnosis is primary hypothyroidism (Gaitonde et al., 2012).

The Importance Of Same Sex Relationships In The Catholic...
Same Sex relationships are and always have always been frowned upon in the eyes of
the Church. The Catholic Church takes a very strict approach to their view on same sex
relationships. Despite Pope Francis taking a tolerant stance on same sex marriage, the
banning of marriage throughout the Catholic church still causes negative feelings
through the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and queer communities. For the
Church to gain the full approval of these communities some major changes need to be
made. The Church needs to take a more modernized approach to dealing with same sex
relationships and to look fully into each individual s self fulfillment.
The Bishops teaching is based The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith. The
Church is very non accepting of homosexual actions and desires and makes clear that
if a person is just naturally feeling this way is must be a disorder. The Congregation for
the Doctrine of Faith states, [Homosexual actions] were described as deprived of their
essential and indispensable finality, as being intrinsically disordered , and able in no
case to be approved of. The Church is giving their views solely and not taking into the
account that it is not one general answer to the perfect lifestyle .
The Congregation of faith makes it very clear that being homosexual is indeed not a
morally accepted option. Their leverage is that the Holy Bible has verses specifically
against homosexuality and being acceptable of anything related to them. They
Essay on The Social Dimension of Sending Remittances
Introduction
The social impact of remittances is a very important area of research and discussion
within academia and in the wider world. What is the effect of remittances on the senders,
the receivers and the wider communities in which both sides live?
This essay will attempt to address the issue of the social dimension of remittances by
analysing the debate on this issues through a number of examples of both the sender
experience and the receiver experience. In this way we are able to get a better picture of
the power of remittances from a social context and what it means to both sides.

Remittances

Therefore relationships are at the heart of what motivates a sender to remit to their loved
ones. What is involved in the relationship between the sender and receiver that allows
someone working thousands of miles away and often in terrible conditions to send their
hard earned money to their families in their home country is an extraordinary example of
the bonds that unite us.
Author s Story, Remittances to Yemen.
I am a second generation British Yemeni born in Liverpool. As a child my parents moved
our family to Yemen to live. So from the age of 5 years old to the age of 9 years old I
moved from inner city Liverpool to a small village in Yemen. I didn t speak any Arabic at
all when I arrived and by the time I left at the age 9 I didn t speak any English at all.
I remember my time in Yemen very fondly, it was an extraordinary time of adventure
and discovery without television or radio. Due to my time in Yemen I developed a very
strong connection to the country, even though following my return to the UK, I didn t
visit Yemen again for 17 years until I went back to get married in 1998.
This bond I developed remains to this day, this has meant regular trips to visit family
and friends especially for my Yemeni born wife. As a mugtareb Arabic for migrant, I am
expected from time to time to remit money. Most of the time this money goes to my
parents who spend 6 months of the year in Yemen and 6 months in the UK. However I
