I. Background
Ethio Telecom delivers fixed wireless broadband (FWBB) with point to point (PtP)/point to multipoint
(PtMP) wireless radio system solution for those customers at location out of fixed cable connection
due to unfavorable topography or needing backup connectivity with different media. This solution is
available anywhere without location barrier in short period of time easily with the customer delivered
CPE (e.g. router).
Suweys three and two-wheel assembling workshop at Somali region, around Jijiga town is such
customer & found in EER. Suweys three and two-wheel assembling workshop customer contact is

II. Proposed Solution

The FWBB service of 20Mbps can be given from MW wireless Site ID 151043 with RADWIN2000
Alpha PtP wireless radio solution to the customer location. The assigned port and uplink site is
described in below table.

III.PtP Wireless Solution with RADWIN 2000 Alpha

This is carrier grade solution and users can subscribe/upgrade any speeds/bandwidth up to 500Mbps
& a subscriber can subscribe Internet and VPN data at the same time. RADWIN 2000 Alpha operates
in unlicensed frequency spectrum range of 4.9-6.0GHz. The power consumption is non-significant &
small powered with PoE device. It has element management system (EMS)- RADWIN WINManage
and this helps:

The solution is easily mountable at ethio side with the existing tower and customer side with customer
provided mounting structure.

a. End to end logical PtP wireless topology

RADWIN 2000 Alpha has element management system (RADWIN WINManage) hence it needs
configuration of management on top of user traffic configuration. The PtP wireless equipment
extends the Ethernet interface to customer location & the customer has to deliver CPE device (e.g
router).

b. Physical PTP wireless connection schematic

The 7-EG6-2(PORT-2) on wireless microwave site (RTN Site ID: 151043) has Ethernet interface
and in this opening RJ45 shall be used. On the PtP wireless side, UTP cable shall be connected to
the port LAN IN on DC PoE device (RW-9921-2059 PoE/DC/GBE/ET/10-60/). DC power cable
drawn from the exiting RTN site PDB shall be connected to PoE DC connector. The PoE output (P-
LAN-OUT) can be pulled to lighting protection unit (LPU) device nearby to outdoor unit (ODU) radio
device at suitable position of the existing tower.
At customer end, the reverse is implemented with AC PoE device (RW-9921-1021
PoE/AC/GBE/24V/EU) then goes to the customer prepared socket. The data from PoE shall be
connected to the customer purchased CPE device (e.g. enterprise router).

The wireless PTP ODU antenna shall be deployed on the MW/BTS tower (RTN site ID: 151043) at
the height of 20m and customer side tower/mast/pole at 9m from the ground as shown in figure 2
and the air distance between the two antennas is 2.6km.

As above snapshot indicates, with only 10MHz channel bandwidth 57.9Mbps aggregate or 29Mbps
full duplex can be achieved.

IV. IP Integration Proposal

This document was prepared to integrate P2P service for Suweys three and two-wheel assembling
workshop. The P2P is supposed to be connected with MW site and the peer IPRAN device is
151093_Hadew_CSG. The core site for the service is at jigiga.
