Beliefs: Beliefs are interpretations or conclusions that people accept as true. They are based more on faith than on fact. Value/ Belief Pattern: It is one of the assessment pattern in a client described in Gordon’s 11 Functional health patterns. It's focused on the person's values and beliefs. E.g. Impaired religiosity. Asa result , they are heavily influenced by a person’s sociocultural environment ,by societal traditions by cultural , ethnic , religious, groups and by family and peer groups which influences the way a person behaves with others. They are highly relevant to establishing our individuality and helping explain our actions. Q#O02: Expl * Behaviors are generally derived from principles that are passed on to us through the teachings of a particular culture or religion. * Example: The ABC School Student is taught principles (Golden Rules) such as: - 1. Love the neighbor 2. Don’t hurt someone, 3. Don’t fight, etc. The School Student is taught to work and study hard and not to cheat to be successful. 4. Traditions are the source of human behavior. Human being raised in a certain culture is taught some rules that keep the social order and direct people’s thoughts and actions. These rules are cultural values. cultural values are established points of view on what is desired and valuable in a certain society. As we grow older our family , society , culture imposes certain rules on us that we have to follow to remain happy and satisfied in society Culture defines situation: Culture conditions and determines what we eat, and drink what we wear, where to laugh , weep, sleep to make friends with, what work we do, what to worship , how we provide care etc. ‘Scanned with ComScanner Culture is the treasury of knowledge: Culture provides knowledge which is important for the physical, social and intellectual existence of man. Culture preserves knowledge and helps its transmission from generation to generation through its element that is language. * Culture provides behavior patterns : Culture assigns goals and provides means for achieving them. It rewards his noble ones and punishes the immoral ones. Values differs from society to society as every social order chooses what to be valued and what not.
