Situation problem:
The arrival of ICT in education has provided unlimited access to resources and information and is
defined as a great support for teachers and improves the quality of student learning by offering
the possibility of developing new ways of teaching and learning through the transformation of
the traditional educational model.

I- Definitions :

1. According to Nelson Mandela, Education, "Education is the great engine of

personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a
doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm
workers can become the president of a great nation."

2. The word ICT is a combination of two words information,

communication and technology. Information means knowledge and

technology means the use of computer and communication. The term ICT

can be defined as “the integration of computing, networking, and

information processing technologies and their applications”

Instruction: With your seat mates, name some advantages and

disadvantages of the use of TIC in Education

* Some Advantages of ICT in Education


- bring innovation to academic centres,
- speed up the transfer of information,
- increase student interest,
- improve students concentration and comprehension,
- promote student flexibility and autonomy,
- facilitate communication between teachers
and students,
- increase classroom productivity and collaborative work,
- stimulate motivation,
- incorporate new learning methods,
- improve parent-teacher interaction.

* Some Disadvantages of ICT in education


ICTs are not perfect because they also have bring:
- distractions and lack of attention,
- excessive and inappropriate use can lead students to a compulsive relationship with technology,
- Much of the information available on the
internet can be false or incomplete,
- reduce human contact,

- Managing courses online is difficult

- Not accessible everywhere

- Teachers require experience to handle ICT

- implementing computers and the internet is expensive

- can make it easier to cheat.
