1. What is ICT?
▪ ICT permeates all aspects of life, providing newer, better, and quicker ways for people to interact,
network, seek help, gain access to information, and learn. Besides its presence everywhere, Information
and Communication Technology has an immense economic significance. Safe and responsible use of
ICTs' means that children are able to fully engage with the multitude of positive opportunities they
present, while employing sensible safeguards to protect themselves and others, in the context of
informed parental guidance and appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks.
▪The main ICT legislation includes: • Data Protection Act. The Copyright Designs and Patents Act.
Computer Misuse Act. The increased volume of information stored on computers meant there was a
need to control what was stored in the interests of protecting individual personal data. ICT and legal,
ethical issues The key issues of problems surrounding the application of ICT are: privacy, ownership, the
responsibility, professionalism, social implications and values.
▪ It can be used to convey information, like using a smartboard to display notes, or to complete student
assessments. There are also a variety of tools available for teachers to turn to for specific lessons in a
range of mathematics subjects. In terms of classroom administration, for example, technology can
provide enhanced record keeping, greatly improving the teacher's analysis of student performance,
especially the identification of skills which could be improved by deliberate practice. This is where
technology can really help. Technology has also begun to change the roles of teachers and learners.
Technology is a powerful tool that can support and transform education in many ways, from making it
easier for teachers to create instructional materials to enabling new ways for people to learn and work
together.
5. What are the implication of the usage of ICT in Teaching Learning process?
▪There is widespread belief that ICTs can and will empower teachers and learners, transforming teaching
and learning processes from being highly teacher-dominated to student-centered, and that this
transformation will result in increased learning gains for students, creating and allowing for
opportunities for learners. ICT not only transforms teaching but also the learning processes. The
transformation gets to increase learning gains for students that provide learners an opportunity to
develop creativity, communication skills, and other thinking skills. Technology can help students by
making learning more engaging and collaborative. Rather than memorizing facts, students learn by
doing and through critical thinking. This could be as simple as taking an interactive quiz in class or
participating in tech-enabled group discussions.
