6.1.2 The permitted deviation of the chemical component of steel materials (billet)
should be in strict adherence to GB/T 222 stipulations.
6.2 Smelting Method
The manufacturer has the right to choose the smelting method apart from
stipulations in the contract.
6.3 Delivery Condition
The steel materials should be delivered at the hot-rolled or hot wrought conditions.
Once the needer requires(and stipulates in the contract), hot processing
condition(annealing, normalizing or high-temperature backfire) can also be adopted.
According to mutual agreement, round steel should be given pressure processing
and its surface can be sliced or skinned or be given other handling methods before
delivery.
6.4 Mechanical Property
6.4.1 The raw stock after heat treatment should be adopted to measure the
longitudinal mechanical property and the hardness at the annealing or high
temperature tempering conditions. The inspection result should accord with Chart 3
stipulations.
6.4.1.1 Once the steel material size is smaller than that of the sample raw stock, the
steel material of the original size should be given hot processing. As for round steel
which diameter is less than 16mm and as for square steel and flat steel which
thickness is no more than 12mm, no impact test is required.
6.4.2 The mechanical property listed in Chart 3 is applicable to steel materials whose
cross-section size is no more than 80mm. As for steel materials whose size is 80―
100mm, it is permitted that the stretching rate after breaking, cross-section shrinkage
and shock absorption power can be lowered 1% (absolute value), 5% (absolute value)
and 5% respectively; as for steel materials whose size is 100―150mm, it is permitted
that the stretching rate after breaking, cross-section shrinkage and shock absorption
power can be lowered 2% (absolute value), 10% (absolute value) and 10%
respectively; as for steel materials which size is 150―250mm, it is permitted that the
stretching rate after breaking, cross-section shrinkage and shock absorption power
can be lowered 3% (absolute value), 15% (absolute value) and 15% respectively.
6.4.3 As for steel material whose size is larger than 80mm, it is permitted to wrought
(roll) the sampling billets into cross-section 70―80mm before sampling operation.
The inspection result should accord with Chart 3 stipulations.
6.4.4 According to the requirements of the needer, the steel materials should be
supplied at the quench and tempering conditions. In this case, it is no longer
necessary to conduct hot processing to the samples used to measure mechanical
property. The needer and supplier should negotiate to determine the mechanical
property objectives.
6.5 LP
13 of 24
6.5.1 The cross-section acid corrosion LP test piece of steel materials should not
suffer from visible pipe cavity, air bubbles, crack, sundry matters, skull patch, white
dots and intergranular cracks.
6.5.2 The acid corrosion LP structure level should accord with Chart 4 stipulations.
6.5.2.1 The ordinary point segregation and edge point segregation of 38CrMoAl or
38CrMoAlA steel should not exceed Level 2.5 and Level 1.5 respectively.
6.5.2.2 Steel materials used for slicing processing are allowed to have such
indications as subcutaneous sundry matters and subcutaneous air bubbles provided
they do not exceed the permitted depth of surface indications.
6.5.2.3 So long as the supplier can ensure the qualification of LP inspection,
ultrasonic inspection method or other harmless detection methods can be adopted to
replace acid corrosion LP inspection.
6.6 Surface Quality
6.6.1 The surface of steel materials used for pressure processing should not suffer
from crack, scar, folding or sundry matters. In case of any above mentioned
indications, they should be eliminated thoroughly. The depth for elimination should
accord with Chart 5 stipulations from the actual size of the steel materials. The width
should not be 5 times less than the depth. There should be at most one maximum
elimination depth in the same cross-section. It is permitted to have small flaws,
indentations, pock marks whose actual size do not exceed half of the allowance error
or cracks whose depth do not exceed 0.2mm.
