MONTHLY CHAPTER
ASSEMBLY - JANUARY
JOHN 1: 35-42

THE FIRST
DISCIPLES OF
JESUS
Do you know what
a “disciple“ is?
A disciple is someone
who follows
and helps spread the
teachings of another.
In our Gospel today,
Jesus invited His
very first disciples
to follow him and
help him in his
mission.
The story began
with John the
Baptist
together with
Andrew and John.
As John the Baptist saw
Jesus walking by, he said,
“Behold the Lamb of God”
Andrew and John heard what
John the Baptist said and
they began to follow Jesus
to where He was going.
Then, Jesus saw them following him and so he
asked them what did they want. They answered,
“Rabbi where are you staying?”
Jesus then said to them,
“Come and you will see.”
This happened at
four o’ clock in the
afternoon.
Andrew and John
stayed with Jesus
for the day
Early the next day,
Andrew went to his
brother, Simon
Peter, and told
him, “We have
found the
“Messiah”
Andrew introduced
Simon Peter to
Jesus. When Jesus
saw Simon Peter,
he looked at him
and said, “You are
Simon son of John.
You will be called
Cephas.”
Jesus gave Simon
Peter a new name
to prepare him for
His future mission.
Remember, Peter
became the leader
of the disciples.
And when Jesus
died, he became
the first Pope.
FEATURED
SAINT
St. Bathildis
Feast Day: January 30
A scared, Christian
English girl was locked
up on a pirate ship and
was sold as a slave. Each
day, she went from one
task to another doing
the very best she could.
Soon, King Clovis II noticed
her and fell in love with her.
The King married her and
the slave woman had
become the queen. When
King Clovis II died, Bathildis
became ruler of France until
her three sons grew up.
She was filled with love for
Jesus and his Church. As
queen, she helped and
protected the Church in every
way she could. She put up
hospitals in France. She
started a seminary to train
priests and a convent for nuns.
When her son Clotaire was
fifteen, Queen Bathildis handed
the throne over to him and
entered the convent of Chelles.
As a nun, she set aside her royal
dignity and became humble and
obedient. She never demanded or
even expected other people to
treat her like royalty.
She was very kind and gentle
with the sick. She suffered a
long, painful illness before she
died on January 30, 680.
KFC Heroes
Challenge
St. Bathildis is like a
hero of the Catholic Church.
We too could be like her
and be a hero.
Do you want to be a hero like
St. Bathildis?”
It’s KFC Heroes Challenge time!
A hero is always prepared in
every situation wherever he/she
is needed. The KFC Heroes
Challenge today is to take care of
the environment.
This is our
KFC Heroes
Challenge.
Are you ready?
What are the three
categories of waste
that we should follow
in throwing our
garbage or waste?
As KFC Heroes, we must
always obey Jesus with a
happy heart as we see and
listen to how we can take
care of the environment.
