Definition of patient rights
Patient rights: are those rights attributed to a person seeking
health care during hospitalization.

Situation (3)

Mr. Hasan is a patient at surgical department, and during


visiting time. one of his visitors ask the assigned nurse to take
copy of Mr. Hasan medical record.
Question 1
-What are basic of patient rights guidelines?
Answer
1-Introduce myself.
2- Know the identity of the person treating the patient.
3-Accept patient and his Visitors and Be treated with respect
and dignity
4-Privacy and confidentiality, which includes access to medical
records upon request.
5- Information, including the medical records by the patient or
by the patient's legally authorized representative and
hospital charges.
6- Personal safety.
7-Quality health care without discrimination because of race,
creed, gender, religion or source of payment.
8- Be informed about condition, treatment options, and the
possible
9- Participate in the development and implementation of care.
10- Informed consent for all procedures.
11- Consultation and communication
12- Refuse treatment in accordance with the law, and receive
information about the refusal treatment ,results and side
effects of treatment.

-In light of this statement, what the assigned nurse should be
done according patient rights guidelines?

Answer
“According to this situation “This condition is not appropriate to
patient basic rights so the nurse should refuse politely explain
that the nurse should maintain patient privacy and
confidentiality, including Information, including the medical
records by the patient or by the patient's legally authorized
representative and hospital charges.
