LETTER OF PROTEST
Dear Sirs,
I refer to your letter of Protest dated ......................... related to the captioned topic. *)
Upon the vessel's arrival the cargo temperature was jointly determined by the cargo
inspector and the vessel's representative to be ............°C on average. The current sea
temperature is ............°C. The average air temperature has been ............°C. This cargo's
Cloud Point Temperature has been calculated to be approximately ............°C.
As a result of the average cargo temperature being below the Cloud point temperature, and
without the ability to heat the cargo on this vessel, significant sludge deposition ha occurred
in the vessel's cargo tanks due to the inherent vice of this cargo. The sludge's physical
behaviour renders it difficult to remove by the specified methods of Crude Oil Washing as
prescribed in my Crude Oil Washing Manual.
As a result of this circumstance and on behalf of my Owners, I reject all liability for the
extended period of Crude Oil Washing as mandated by the Marpol regulations. I hereby
reserve the rights of my Principals to revert to this matter at a later time and to consider all
delays being incurred as being due to the Inherent nature of the cargo.
Yours truly,
.......................................................................
Master
