Introduction

Guidance Services in the modern age have become escalated needs because of a

multiplicity of problems that the individual faces in important domains of life. The terms

guidance Services are used interchangeably. Guidance is a broader term which includes

counselling as one of its services. It means help or advice to deal with the complex problems

linked with your work, education, personal relationship and making into easier ones. Guidance is

regarded as a conceptualized programme of activities that offers a gateway out to the existing

problems in the present era of complex scientific and technological developments. The aim of

guidance and counselling is to assist problem solving, promote decision making, character

formation and improve career development. Guidance Services help to recognize and understand

about one’s talents and abilities, help to develop an optimistic outlook for removal of undesirable

traits, it aids to develop resourcefulness and self-direction in adapting to changes in society.

Guidance Services earn recognition through their services rendered in enhancing human

happiness by being healthier, more productive, attain valuable lesson and also eliminate later

stage problems. The major aim of guidance and counselling services is to encourage students’

academic, social, emotional and personal development. These are thus, an integral component of

education as well. Guidance Services have become very imperative for young children and

schools have a massive role in fetching out the best in children, as at today’s time young minds

need guidance to polish their personality and also help to attend to the physical, social,

psychological, educational and vocational needs of the school students who go a long way to

remove impediments of learning.

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to define the Guidance Services on the Post-Pandemic Period from the

Lens of Senior High School Student.

Specifically, this study seeks to answer the face to face questions.

1. What is the profile of the students in terms of:

1.1 sex;

1.2 grade level;

1.3 strand; and

1.4 place of origin

2. How to assess the services offered by the guidance with relation to the following:

2.1 problem solving;

2.2 decision-making;

2.3 character formation; and

2.4 career development

3. Is their significant difference in the responses when grouped according to profile

variables?

4. What challenges in providing guidance services?

5. How to prepare an information formed on the analysis of findings.

Scope, Delimitations and Limitations on the Study

This Study Focused on Redefining the Guidance Services on the Post-Pandemic Period

from the Lens of Senior High School Students.

The respondents of study were the selected Grade 11 and Grade 12 students either male or

female of senior high school enrolled in the academic year 2022-2023 in Padre Vicente Garcia

Memorial Academy Inc. The survey questionnaire was use to get primarily data from the

respondents.

Conceptual Framework

Significance of the Study

The Researchers believe that the study will be beneficial to the following.

To the PVGMA Administration, the study’s finding leave recommendation and

importance of guidance services on the post-pandemic period from the lens of senior high school

students.

To Teachers, this would help them in redefining the guidance services on the post-

pandemic period. They will be knowledgeable with the significance of that said factors. This

study provides information for the teachers to know more about the guidance services on the post

pandemic period.

To the Senior High School Students, the result of this research can be used as the reference

to improve the ability of learners in understanding more about the guidance services on the post-

pandemic period.

To Present Researchers, this study greatly benefits then in terms of self-evaluation on how

they define the guidance services on the post pandemic period. The researchers also improve

their qualities to become a good researcher.

To Future Researcher, this study serves as reference for the students who will conduct

similar studies. This will also provide valuable knowledge and additional information to serve as

guide for future researchers who wish to conduct same study.

Definition of Terms

Some terms used in the study are defined conceptually and operationally in order to

provide a vivid understanding of the concepts, content and background of the study.

Sex. According to Canadian Institutes of Health Research (2015), sex refers to set of

biological attributes in human. It is usually categorized as female or male and how attributes are

expressed in the study, it refers the respondent if they are male or female.

Grade Level. According to KO McCullough (1991), grade level is basic education

administrators and teachers concerning the practice of defining literacy by, and dividing adult

education programs into, grade levels. Grade-level proficiency refers to reading, writing, math,

oral communication, and group-process skills.Specific grade levels in which each proficiency

and related skill is expected to be attained were determined.

Strand. According to Boyer (1987), strand is in taking a course, one of the life's major

decision is made In K-12 it refers to the 5 kinds of profession that senior high school can take -

the GAS, HUMSS, STEM, ABM and TV. In the study, it refers to the academic strand where a

student belongs.

Place of Origin. According to Macmillian Dictionary (2017), place of origin refers to the

place where someone or something comes from. The place where something is made or created

The wine is named for its place of origin.

Problem-Solving. According to Instagantt (2022), problem solving is a process of solving

any kind of problem. This process is acted upon in some steps. These steps start from identifying

the problem and determining the cause of the problem. After the problem and its cause are

identified, the next step is to select alternatives for the solution and implement the solutions.

Decision Making. According to Henry Mintzberg (2014), decision making is the process of

diagnosing a problem, identifying possible solutions, evaluating on the best and the making the

action.

Character Formation. According to LH Bartemeier (1969), character formation is

defined as the process by which the individual, through interaction of biologically transmitted

predispositions with with the environment, develops stable patten of functioning, thinking and

feeling.

Career Development. According to Schuler (1998), career development is an activity to

identify the individual needs, abilities and goals and the organization's job demands and job

rewards and then through well designed programmes of career development matching abilities

with demands and rewards.
