Reflected Light: Light that is coming from a source and being reflected off an object or surface to illuminate
another area.

Cast Shadow: Shadow cast by an object. An object’s cast shadow is the object’s adjacent shadow in which its

Hatching (cross hatching)[ hach-ing ] A shading technique where layered directional lines going in a diaginal

that can be used to create texture, value, and the illusion of form and light.

Scumbling: A shading technique using small concentric cirlces to create a tone. To soften (the color or tone of a

Tonal Shading: Tonal shading refers to the lightness or. darkness of an object. It is done by setting down various
strengths of shading to demonstrate where an object is affected by the light and shadows.
