 Phobia (n) /ˈfoʊ.bi.ə/ : a type of anxiety disorder


that involves an extreme fear of something
Ex: He has no real desire to travel and suffers from a phobia of flying.
 Needle (n) //ˈniːdl/:a thin metal pin, used in sewing, that is pointed at one
end and has a hole called an eye at the other end for thread
Ex: Can you thread this needle?
 Panic (v) /ˈpænɪk/ : to suddenly feel frightened so that you cannot think
clearly and you say or do something stupid, dangerous, etc.; to make
somebody do this
Ex: I panicked when I saw smoke coming out of the engine.
 Disgusting (adj) /dɪsˈɡʌstɪŋ/ : extremely unpleasant
Ex: What a disgusting smell!
 Vaguely (adv) /ˈveɪɡ.li/: in a way that is not clearly expressed, known,
described, or decided.
Ex: I just look vaguely worried all the time.
 Conquer (v) /ˈkɑːŋkər/ : to succeed in dealing with or controlling
something
Ex: The only way to conquer a fear is to face it.
 Exacerbate (v) /ɪɡˈzæsəbeɪt/ : to make something worse, especially a
disease or problem
Ex : His insomia may be exacerbated by certain drugs
 To frighten someone into something (phrasal verb) : to make someone
so frightened that they do something they did not want to do
Ex: We should not be frightened into the idea that there is only one way
forward.
 To scare someone/something away/off ( pharsal verb): to make
a person or an animal so frightened that he, she, or it goes away.
Ex: Don't make too much noise or you'll scare away the birds.
