GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF DISSERTATION

General Instructions for Dissertation


1. You are advised to follow strictly the submission dates and format provided.
2. The length of the Dissertation should preferably be restricted to 100 printed pages.
3. Three hard copies and a soft copy of the Dissertation should be submitted for
evaluation.

Timeline
Submission Deadlines-

a. Preliminary presentation/First presentation –16/2/2024


(Subject area, title and literature review)
b. Synopsis Submission + Viva: 29/2/24
c. Draft Submission of the Dissertation: 25/2/2024
d. Final viva +Dissertation Submission: Dates to be notified
(May,2024 tentatively)

LAYOUT AND FORMAT


One of the most important requisites in preparation of the Dissertation is consistency of
format and therefore kindly give adherence to the specific instructions given below.
Font and Style

2. Type written on A4 size paper (21 cm x 29.7 cm) in a clear and legible font.

3. For Title use Garamond font style of 14 size with 1.5 line spacing.

4. For Text use Garamond font style of 12 size with 1.5 line spacing.

5. The Dissertation has to be printed single-sided only.

6. Margins of left side should be 1.5 inch, and 1.00 inch of right, top and bottom sides.

7. All headings should be left aligned, except chapter headings, which may be
centered.

8. Bluebook 20th Edition style should be adhered to strictly.


FORMAT OF DISSERTATION
The manuscript consists of three main parts:
 The Preliminaries,
 The Text, and
 The Annexure.

It is to be arranged in the following sequence:


The Preliminaries

3. Declarations by Student
4. Certificate by Research Supervisor
5. Acknowledgements
6. Table of Contents
7. List of Cases, Figures, Tables or Illustrations
8. List of Abbreviations

STRUCTURE OF THE PRELIMINARY PARTS

OUTER COVER (Appendix-I)

The outer cover should carry the following details:


1. The full title of the dissertation
2. The candidate's name
3. Dissertation - Year
4. Institute's Logo
5. Name of the Guide
6. Year of Submission

The following colour for the outer cover must be followed:


a. BA LLB(Hons.): Black with Gold Text
b. BBA LLB(Hons.): Black with Gold Text
c. BCom LLB(Hons.): Black with Gold Text
d. LLM: Red/Maroon with Gold Text

DECLARATION OF AUTHORSHIP
The student should make this declaration.

CERTIFICATE BY THE RESEARCH SUPERVISOR (Appendix IV)


The supervisor has to provide a certificate and if Co-supervisor is present, separate
certificates have to be given by the Supervisor.
