NEWS UPDATE | CABHA profs attend annual reg’l

business students, Southern Luzon
State University’s (SLSU) College
of Administration, Business, Hos-
pitality, and Accountancy (CABHA)
Dean Chona Cayabat and many
other professors from the college
gathered in the yearly general as-
sembly for all business deans and
educators from Region IV, SLSU
Hotel, Sept. 15.

tion
Supervisor II of the Commision
on Higher Education Regional Of-
fice (CHEDRO) IV, served as the
resource speaker of the event. He
highlighted nine emerging trends
in business education designed to
provide students with a contempo-
rary and relevant learning experi-
ence aligns with the demands of
the modern business world.
Additionally, Labang men-
tioned the updated guidelines on
onsite learning education and the
reinforced standards and policies
governing student internship pro-
grams abroad.
Meanwhile, the annual event
was organized by the Council of
Deans and Educators of Business
(CODEB) Region IV-A, whose mis-
sion is to promote cooperation,
progress, and the pursuit of high
standards in the region’s field of
business education.

its general orientation
To officially open the Aca-
demic Year 2023-2024 and wel-
come freshmen students, the
College of Administration, Busi-
ness, Hospitality, and Accountan-
cy (CABHA) of Southern Luzon
State University (SLSU) hosted its
much-awaited general orientation,
SLSU Gymnasium, Sept. 21.
The program commenced
with a lively procession of academ-
ic and non-academic organiza-
tions. Mark Ondevilla, the CABHA
Senator, set the tone with his wel-
coming remarks, setting the stage
for Dr. Chona V. Cayabat, the CAB-
HA Dean, who delivered an inspi-
rational message. Dr. Cayabat
commended the Student Regent
and former CABHA Sen. Richmond
Banaag for his exemplary lead-
ership and service. She then ex-
tended a heartfelt welcome to both
freshmen and returning students.
Moreover, Dr. Cayabat
emphasized the teacher’s unwa-
vering support to the students
towards their stay in the universi-
ty and reminded not to lose their
grit in the pursuit of academic
excellence. She underscored the
importance of adhering to the 3M
guiding principles: Magmahalan,
Magtulungan, at Magmalasakitan.
In the afternoon, after the
individual academic organization-
al orientations in the college, the of interactive games in which the
CABHA Student Council took the freshmen actively participated. The

the faculty of their calling: to trans-
form ordinary students into extraor-
dinary individuals.
Dr. Cayabat also extended
her thanks to the faculty members
of CABHA, acknowledging their un-
wavering support and effort, which
has contributed to the college’s
consecutive achievements. She
concluded her message with opti-
mism, expressing the belief that,
with extraordinary efforts, CABHA
and its students will continue to
accomplish remarkable feats in the
future.

Hospitality Management (JAHM)
and Camarero De Bar (CDB) or-
ganized a team-building activity
with the theme “PAGSIBOL: Pro-
moting Camaraderie and Fostering
Inclusivity,” Southern Luzon State
University (SLSU) Covered Court,
Oct. 20.
In her message as JAHM ad-
viser, Professor Claire Ann Yao ex-
pressed sincere gratitude to JAHM
and CDB for their dedicated efforts
in bringing the event to life.

Meanwhile, Juven Matan-
guihan, CDB President, expressed
gratitude to JAHM’s officers, ad-

that this year’s event surpassed the
previous one in terms of success,
thanks to the active participation
of the members. He stressed any
mistakes made during the event
had become valuable lessons for
the future.
When asked about their
preparations and message for their
members, JAHM President, Carlo
Dave Saldua, stated, “[...] with the

Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) sailed towards
its JPIAns Acquaintancy Day (JAD) themed “VOYAGE OF DIS-
COVERY: Unleashing the Dawn of Camaraderie,” SLSU gym-
nasium, Nov. 28.
To formally start the program, Prof. Judith Sarabia, CPA,
BSA program chair, delivered the welcoming remarks, ex-
pressed her gratitude to attendees, and advised them to set
aside their schoolwork for a while and simply enjoy the day.

abat, CABHA Dean, who emphasized the college’s support to
accountancy students towards their education to bring them to
