Sit In For Second Semester Action Plan

On November 16, 2019, The Collegial – The Official Publication of KCAST

gathered for the making of the action plan for 2 nd semester at the Audio-Visual Room

10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

With the presence of the Editor-In-Chief, Erika Mae P. Asoy, the organization

were designated with their work in relation to the releasing of magazine, assigning of

journalists to cover the activities on the following months, as well as presentation of the

accomplishment and report for the annual year.

Furthermore, the meeting was done with the cooperation of all journalists except

John Lloyd J. Lopez – Managing Editor who was absent for that day. At exactly 5:00

PM, the meeting was adjourned by the EIC and all the present members.
Valentines & SSC Day

The peak season of love is always celebrated at the month of February. To

celebrate this, the SSC set an advanced date for the Valentines as well as SSC Day

last February 7, 2020 at KCAST Gymnasium.

As part of the event, it comprised with Hugot Extemporaneous Dialogue, Love

Duet, Contemporary Dance and Group Impersonation to entertain the audience and all

the lovers celebrating their day.

On the other hand, the OIC President – Mr. Ben-Oni P. Ligaray MAEd. gave his

inspirational message which he stated: “Love is in the air… you can’t see it… but you

can feel it”. One of the most famous quotation being relayed by everyone during

Valentines.

Moreover, the SSC presented their accomplishment and report for their current

administration led by Ramon C. Cruta – SSC President. Proceeded by Ms. Laura E.

Ocay, RM – Rural Health Midwife II with the Early Pregnancy Orientation.

Mr. Mar Vincent M. Rebote, MAEcon – Head of the Student Development and

Services. Office gave his closing remarks thanking the students, the staffs, the SSC

Officers for the successful event done during the day.


Graduation Ball

Annually, KCAST celebrates the Graduation Ball exclusively for the 4 th year

students who are about to leave the school with dignity and pride which is to

acknowledge their hardships and efforts throughout years of being in school. Moreover,

the ball would serve as a promise for all the students in the peak of bidding farewell to

heartaches, happiness, and glory between their friends and the instructors.

“Green as Jade”, the latest theme of the Seniors’ Ball that happened at the

KCAST Gymnasium last February 28, 2020. The flaunting of Masquerade was reflected

through their souls with precision. Elegance graced to the runway of the said place

while people wore dazzling clothes and with uniqueness in each of them.

“Boldness and Refinement” Mrs. Litob boasted with confidence. Loud cheers

were heard at that night as these students were close in reaching their shared goal:

graduating.

As part of the tradition, there’s dancing, serenade and citing of prophecy done for

entertainment. With their highlight, the awarding who would win the Best in Evening

Dress, Formal Tuxedo, Mr. & Ms. Elegant, Most Gorgeous & Handsome, Mr. & Miss

Face of the Night, Mr & Miss Headturner, and lastly, the Star and King of the Night.

The event ended with Mr Rebote’s speech, “…soar high, continue to dream!”
Outreach Program

Gift giving by KCAST initiated specifically by the Supreme Student Council,

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Officers, and National Services Training

Program Students at Purok 16, Ilaboon, Kapalong, Davao del Norte on December 21,

2019.

Led by Ma. Elena G. Litob – BSBA Program Coordinator, Mar Vincent M,

Rebote, MAEcon. – SSC Adviser, Elealeh G. Suan and Jonelson Escandallo – NSTP

Advisers, the NSTP students successfully held the program to the children and mothers

of Ilaboon.

Opening Remarks came from Mr. Rebote as he explained briefly the reasons

why KCAST do community outreach program through gift gicing and why it happens

once or twice a year in different communities such as in Kapalong, Sua-on, and in

Taguango.

Zumba dance and parlor games were the activities done for the day. The

highlight was the gift-giving which is divided for the children and their parents.

Amado Luzon Sr. – Chairman of the Purok thanked the faculty and students for

their helping hands. The program ended afterwards his speech.


Leadership Summit

On November 11, 2019, the selected officers from different organization of

KCAST joined the 6th Student Leaders’ Summit which was organized by the Davao

Colleges and Universities Network, Inc. (DACUN) in partnership with the Association of

Private Schol Colleges and Universities in Region XI at Brokenshire Resort and

Convention Center, Madapo, Davao City.

The Summit’s ultimate objectives under the pertinent provisions of RA 7722 or

known as Higher Education Act of 1994 aimed to demonstrated leadership through

servanthood, maintain peace and order, protect life, academic freedom and to shape

students to their capacity as leaders. Thus, reflecting their theme “Servant Leadership

and Responsible Governance”.

The first speaker, Deborah C. Diamante – Retired OSA Director from University

of Mindanao presented 3 key points which she emphasized the heart as holding the

spirituality; the head which contributes to academic service learning and; the hands

which initiates the mission and service. These three must work simultaneously in order

to be called as an effective leader.

“Your prudence, your balancing act of leadership will spell the difference between

coming home alive and coming home in a casket” – Rev. Fr. Russel A. Bantiles, PhD,

second speaker, pointed out specifically. His philosophical view about leaders means

having prudence since it is a necessary virtue in molding great leaders as for truth-

seekers.
Lastly, Theresa S. Eliab, MS, CSASS – OSA Director from Ateneo De Davao

University thanked the presence of the following schools who attended the summit and

thus gave her closing speech for the 6th Summit.
