INTRODUCTION
Tell it to Women tells the story of Yemoja, Ruth, Daisy and ths women of Idu. Daisy and Ruth,
modern women who tries to take advantage of the rural women in a quest to satisfy their
selfish desires.
THE PLAYWRIGHT
Tess Osonye Onwueme is a Nigerian female playwright. She is a political dramatist who rose to
prominence writing plays with themes of social justice, culture, and the environment. Through
her plays, she is able to use the theatre as a medium to showcase historically silenced views
The play recounts the story of Yemoja, a semi-literate Idu woman and her journey to find a “a
better life." At the core of the play is the Better Life for Rural Women , a programme funded by
the government and spearheaded by Daisy and Ruth. They perpetuate their selfish desires
undee the guise of leading the women and liberating them from the impression of man. This
brings conflict in the village particularly between men and women including her husband and
father.
