Project Title: Translating Multiple Stories and Making it into a Book

Subject Area: Translation 1 - Universitas Trunojoyo

Time Frame: 3 weeks

Purpose:

The purpose of this PBL project is for students to learn about the process of
translating a story/an article, but a class should decide whether they want to translate a
story/an article. The theme should be similar among the groups. For example, the
class C decides to translate folklore. All the groups in class C should translate the
folklore but the title and content of the folklore should be different as this will be
made into a book.

Students will work in groups to select a story/an article to translate, research the
target audience, and translate the a story/an article. They will also learn about the
different aspects of story/article translation, such as cultural differences, idioms, and
translation strategies.

Target Students:

Students at Translation Class.

Essential Questions:

 What are the different steps involved in translating a a story/an article?


 What are the challenges of translating a a story/an article?
 How can I ensure that my translation is accurate and culturally appropriate?

Project Goals:

By the end of this project, students will be able to:

 Select a a story/an article to translate


 Research the target audience
 Translate the a story/an article
 Edit the story/article
 Proofread the translation
 Unify them in one format, whether an e-book or a blog.

Project Activities:

 A story/an article selection: Students will select a a story/an article to translate.


They can work in groups.
 Research: Students will research the target audience. They can use a story/an
articles, websites, and interviews to gather information.
 Task management: Students will make their schedule by considering all the steps
(translation, editing, and proofreading, as well as the publishing (formatting)).
 Translation: Students will translate the a story/an article. They can use a variety of
translation techniques, such as literal translation, communicative translation, and
functional translation.
 Editing: Students will edit the translation. They will check the accuracy.
 Proofreading: Students will proofread the translation. They will check for grammar,
spelling, and punctuation errors.
 Publishing: Students will publish the translation. They can create an e-book or blog.
Students may use Canva or other software.

Assessment:

Students will be assessed on their ability to complete the project goals and the
translation results they submitted.

Extensions:

 Students can publish their translation on a social media platform.


 Students should include the link/source from which they retrieve the stories/articles.
