1. Out of Henry Sy’s 14 life principles, which one do you like best, or you were able
to relate the most? Why?

Among Henry Sy’s 14 life principles, I relate the most to the number 9, which is
“Try to be optimistic.” As an individual who was not ready for failures back then, it was so
hard for me to try again and be hopeful to achieve my goals the second time that I will try.
But as life goes on and failures do not leave me, I learned how to be optimistic, I learned
how to be hopeful when I fail and try again for the second time around. Just like Henry
Sy, I often have a vision to see opportunities coming in amidst the crisis I have been
experiencing; however, by visualizing those opportunities I am careful to choose what
chance I will grab to achieve those dreams of mine. Moreover, by visualizing the
opportunities that will come, I am making sure that it will help me to grow stronger, bolder,
and happier, and will help me to be the version of myself. A thousand times I fail, but still
your mercy remains.

2. Do you think you can apply some or all of Sy’s life principles to your own personal
and professional life? If yes, how? If not, why?

As a student who often experiences struggles and disappointments in life, I don’t

know if I can apply all those principles in my life, but maybe some of them I can apply on
my journey. In some ways I can apply it by example, appreciating my colleagues'
triumphs, regardless of how big or little it is, this could create a happy and upbeat
environment for us. Furthermore, by being mindful and cooperative when working on
collaborative projects, we must encourage everybody's participation since we ought to be
aware that they might possess varying opinions and abilities. Consequently, whenever a
chance to succeed arises, we must be prepared to engage; on the contrary, another
person will receive and benefit from it. We must realize that opportunity doesn't always
knock on our door, it must either be now or never, or take the risk or lose the chance.
There are so many times that we can apply those principles in our lives, but we should
always be mindful of every action we make.

3. If you will add 1 more to Sy’s life principles to make it 15, what will it
be? (Note: Say/Write it only in 1 sentence)

I will add the principles of “Be contented and happy with what you have”, it’s not you
always being on the top but being humble yourself and letting other people grow too, be
contented and happy for what things you have and achieved; it’s not bad to aim for more
but don’t be greedy and deceitful.
4. How about you, what are your life principles? Explain.

My life principle is being content and happy with what you have right now. In my own
perspective, it’s not bad to aim for more but we should not be greedy about the things in
our lives. If that is what we can only have, we should be content and be happy about it.
We can aim for the better by the hard work and passion we will give, but we cannot aim
for something that is not meant for us. We should not be deceitful in order for our own
happiness and life status. For me, being contented means being happy. It’s not always
about you, sometimes it’s also about other people.

5. How do you define success? How can a person say he/she is successful?

In my view, one way to define success is as a feeling of personal fulfillment and

happiness. A person can say that he/ she is successful if he/ she feels contentment and
happiness with what he/she has in his/her life. Growth in oneself and improvement can
be accelerated by contentment and happiness. Whenever people feel content, they will
be inclined to accomplish and meet substantial objectives. The well-being of individuals
relates to overall satisfaction. Therefore, individuals who are happy and fulfilled may
contribute to more amicable, productive, and, prosperous societies.
