Jekyll wanted to separate the two parts of his personality, because he thought that
this way he could live a better life, by not having to deal with his negative impulses.

Jekyll realized that he had no control over Hyde after committing several horrible
actions and that the potion no longer allowed him to return to his true self.
5.-What two things about the will that Utterson found in the study were surprising?
The two things that surprised Mr. Utterson about the will were that he had inherited
all of Dr. Jekyll's money and that the date on which the will was drawn up was that
same morning.
