Worksheet Objectives:

2. Apply the political frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

I have chosen twitch as my organization. This is the largest organization for streaming all
things from video games to cooking or even just chatting. I am looking into it as a
external role looking into the organization. The situation I have chosen to look into is the
creator fees and requirements set by the company for their streamers have to agree to and
run to make a profit. It is within this situation I want to know if it is in fact profitable to
the either party.

2) Describe how the politics of the organization influenced the situation.

Twitch has been run by Amazon for years now. With politics we have our standard
Government politics but in a business you run into Office Politics such as allocating
resources properly and making policies that affect the company as a whole. So how does
this affect twitch and at the same time the streamers and viewers. Well for one the
viewers and streamers have to apply to and follow the strict guidelines the company has
laid out and set for streaming content and information released. This in return puts a
damper on the content and how they create the videos and what to talk about. This
inadvertently is a double edge sword. It helps the company protect its viewers but it also
hinders the creators that may want to have more raw content especially on touchy
subjects such as politics or opinions.

3) Recommend how you would use organizational politics for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

Based on what we have learned I think the best way to handle the politics for the
alternative course of action to allow content creators more freedom to bring the viewers
what they want and need with out as much censorship or issues with banning or taking
too much from what they make. It is important to take a cut as the creators have to use the

 servers and system. However if organized properly it will allow more creators to come
and less to switch to other platforms.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

I have constantly dealt with the politics of offices throughout my career in the work force.
It seems tedious and not many like them. However based on what I have learned. The
biggest key is they need to have them because it holds the business together. It makes the
biggest difference from the successful businesses to the non successful. It allows policies
in place for allowing allocation of funds and new ventures. I would do nothing differently
that what I have been doing I think many businesses will need to make those changes to
implement policies and leaders to make them follow through better but it is a changing
process.
