Discuss four major roles of Human Resource Manager

HR manager is a guide, philosopher, friend, path-finder, path identifier, problem solver,


competence maker of the human resource. Human Resources (HR) manager is someone
who helps an organization's employees grow and improve. They play a big role in
achieving the goals of the organization. HR managers help the company find the right
people for the right jobs at the right time. They also work to motivate and train
employees so they can do their jobs well. Since employees are the ones who do the work
and help the company reach its goals it helps the company do their job well.

Roles of a human resources manager are

1. Recruitment and selection

This involves finding and hiring the best candidates for open positions. It is also a process of
discovering sources of manpower and employing effective measures for attracting that
manpower in adequate numbers to facilitate the selection of an efficient working force in
an organization. A human resources manager is responsible for attracting and hiring the best
candidates for open positions. This involves developing a recruitment strategy, writing job
descriptions, advertising job openings, reviewing resumes and applications, conducting
interviews, and making job offers. The goal is to find candidates who are qualified and have
the skills and abilities needed to succeed in the position.

Effective recruitment practices are essential in attracting a diverse pool of highly qualified
candidates that can contribute to the organization’s success. By creating job postings,
outreach programs, and selection criteria, HR ensures that the best candidates are hired. This
guarantees that the business has a skilled and diverse workforce that can support growth and
innovation.HR professionals must also develop selection criteria that accurately evaluate
candidates’ skills, experience, and cultural fit. A fair, transparent, and legally compliant
selection process ensures that the best candidates are chosen for the job. By selecting the
most suitable candidates, HR ensures the organization has the necessary talent to drive
growth and achieve its goals. Recruitment can be divided into two which is internal
recruitment which consists of promotions, transfers of retired employees, contacts or referrals
and external recruitment which is through advertising, recruitment through campus, by third
parties, unsolicited applicants.
Employees well suited for the job will be highly productive in their work, and the entire
company can enjoy the success. Therefore it is in the roles and responsibilities of HR to
ensure the right candidate is selected for the position.

2. Training and development

This involves providing training and development opportunities for employees to help them
improve their skills and abilities. Training help employees stay sharp and keep current on
industry developments or new technology. Training is also used for developing current and
future leaders. HR may play many roles here, including Designing and/or delivering training
classes. Writing training materials and evaluating and purchasing published training materials
or online.

Training employees consistently, is an important asset because it increase the job satisfaction
of work in the company. Moreover, it keeps the employees motivated to do their best
professionally.

The Human Resources department is responsible for developing and administering training
and development programs. Training and development programs are designed to improve
employees’ performance and help them adapt to changes in the workplace. These programs
can include classroom training, on-the-job training, and online training

3. Compensation and benefits.


This involves designing and implementing a compensation and benefits package that is
competitive and attractive to employees. HR managers are responsible for implementing
competitive compensation and benefits packages to attract and retain talented employees.
Therefore, one needs to stay up-to-date on the market trends. Moreover, HR managers need
to benchmark salaries to ensure employees are fairly compensated for their skills and
contributions.

Employees depend on their pay checks, and HR is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and
fairness of those checks. The process starts with determining the pay rate for specific jobs as
part of comprehensive employee compensation plan. This effort may involve wage surveys to
ensure the organization is competitive with other employers. HR must also factor in cost-of-
living differences, seniority and, if applicable, honour organized labour contracts.
Many businesses will employ payroll staff to take care of the payment of wages, but HR
managers will often cover other areas of compensation. This includes understanding and
setting appropriate salaries and being familiar with employee benefits such as leave
entitlements and bonuses.

4. Policy creation and administration

Some policies are in place to help ensure that organizations are legally compliant, such as
rules banning discrimination or sexual harassment. Other policies help managers by giving
them a framework for making decisions, such as guidelines about working remotely, while
more companies now have rules intended to bolster corporate security, such as policies
governing the use of computers and Internet access. And still others are intended to foster
fairness so that all employees are held to the same standards, such as attendance policies. One
must be aware of all the government policies to reflect them in their policy.

They keep track of whether the policies they implemented are working successfully and if not
they take necessary action and inform their reporting executives to check out with their
employees on this. It includes leaves, promotions, regulations, pay, incentives, abscond
policy, working hours.

In a nutshell Human resources managers play a very important role in the business such as
recruitment and selection, training and development, policy creation and administration and
compensation and benefits and when Human Resources are executed effectively, they drive
employee satisfaction, enhance retention rates, and ultimately contribute to the business’s
success.
