Come Christmas Eve, creatures will be stirring —
and they will be mice. Or, more accurately
said, predicting they’ll cause a stir. This year,
debut a couple of homemade ornaments
that are bound to upstage the old collection
on the tree. Made from felt, ribbon,
and a few sewing notions, they’re
fashioned after a couple of merry
friends from the Magic Kingdom.

Time: 15 Minutes

What you’ll need:

• Scissors
• Black stiff felt
• Thin ribbon (red and green)
• Red and green felt
• 2 small white buttons
• Tacky glue
• Stick-on faux pearls
• Small stiff paintbrush

HOW TO MAKE IT:

Print the template and use the pieces as patterns for cutting
1 out the shapes in the specified colours.

For each of the ornaments, brush glue on one of the two black
2 felt mouse heads. Then create a hanger by folding an 8-inch
length of ribbon (red for Mickey, green for Minnie) in half,
and stick the ends to the glued surface, as shown.
Stick the second mouse head atop the first, sandwiching
the ribbon between them and matching up all the edges.

Glue the red semicircle on the Mickey ornament

3 and the green semicircle on the Minnie ornament.

4 Glue a pair of white buttons on the red felt and stick faux pearl
polka dots on the green felt. Tie another length of green ribbon

You’d be hard pressed to name anyone more passionate
about polka-dots than Minnie Mouse. Fashioned from
paper circles, this craft is a great kid-friendly introduction
to wreath-making. While you can certainly cut out circles by
hand, using circle paper punches (sold in the scrap booking
section at craft stores) makes the whole process a snap.
