2. DATABASE VERSION: What is it?
SAGEM is always The database version is
talking about database the configuration used
version. to make the flight data
But what is this ? analysis

Context
• Flight data recordings are different according to the AC type but also the AC Tail,
• For each AC type, there are different ways to record the flight data, which also depends on the equipments
onboard each AC Tail.
Goal
• The database version is a specific program which is defined in the AGS in order to allow the analysis of each
AC of the fleet.
• An airline will need one or several database versions per AC type
Function
• All the database versions are stored in the AGS DB and available at any time for the flight data analysis.
• A database version contents the different components used for the analysis :
- Decoding frame which depends on the onboard equipment configuration,
- Maintenance monitoring
- Flight operation monitoring

2. DATABASE VERSION: What is it?
Where are the
database versions and
how can I put them in
AGS ?

Or

Context
• SAGEM provided me one database version to analyze my ERJ 170,
Goal
• Introduce the DB version in AGS.
Note : The AGS DB is delivered blank (no DB Version) except one for demo
Function
• The Database version list allows :
- Display of all DB versions already available for analysis,
- Importing new DB version to perform new analysis.

DB Version validation

A database version validation is the process that will

allow to check the database version validity in order to
avoid inconsistencies. It checks the parameters and the
data frame definition, the procedures syntax,
compilation and link errors
The validation is mandatory after a database version
import and after any database version modification

What is the database

version validation?
Why and when do we
need to validate?

4. THE FLEET
Or
Tell me,
how do I define my A/C in
AGS ?

Context
• All Flight analyzed by AGS are linked to the AC tail
• To start the Analysis, AGS uses the AC definition to know how it will access to the recording support (media)
• To perform the Analysis, AGS uses the AC definition to know the analysis configuration (DB version)
Goal
• For each AC, the AC definition sets the context of the analysis (recording source and analysis configuration)
and sets characteristics to help statistics investigation (Airline, AC type,..)
Function
• The Aircraft List gives access to the list of all AC defined in AGS and allows the AGS user to define the airline
fleet

The Drive Setup
How does AGS reach the function allows
raw data on the media
that comes from AC administrator to
define the media
reader or the file
source

Context
• AGS Administrator wants to define the source of the raw data reading. The raw data can come from physical
medias (PCMCIA, Optical disk,…) of from files (FDR download, wireless download,…)
Goal
• Definition of the raw data source.
Operation
• Drive Setup Panel.

6. DRIVE SET UP
Tutorial – The raw data are recorded on a PCMCIA, I setup AGS in order
the SW uses the plug-in reader automatically :
- Windows affected the drive letter : O: to the PCMCIA reader,
- I use up the ‘Drive Setup’ in order to link the PCMCIA to the drive O:
• Operations :
- Menu : Analysis, choice : Automatic Analysis,
- Activation of the Button :

- Looking for the predefined Drive Label : PCMCIA (it corresponds to a PCMCIA disk),
- Editing of the Path to O: drive, (the Path is equal to the location of the raw data seen from
windows)

Path can be:

- Drive unit number (1, 2) P&G DRU
- Default drive (C:\, E:\, …)
- File Name C:\FLTREC\DAR.DAT

6. DRIVE SET UP
The raw data (FDR) are in a file and I copy the data always to the same
folder,
I may set a Drive Label to reach always the same folder.

Path Programmable allows to

browse the path to select manually
Path can be: the required file.
- Drive unit number (1, 2)
- Default drive (C:\, E:\, …)
- File Name C:\FLTREC\DAR.DAT

6. DRIVE SET UP
To speed up the analysis of my hundred disks, I bought 4 optical disk
readers,
I may create one Drive Label per reader, one per path.

To allow the 4 readings in one

same analysis operation

One Drive Label per reader

When AGS knows the recording

structure (Direct Access) and for
safety reason, the path can be not
programmable.

7. TIPS AND TRICKS
Each AGS data list includes a dedicated search criteria area,
The user is then able to display just a part of the database corresponding
to the search criteria.

Search criteria dedicated to the

flight list

Search criteria can be combined.

from A/C I-BBBB from the 1st of
Feb 2002 to the 6th of April 2002
