1) What’s the importance of the CRM in the cabin?

Based on my knowledge, the importance of the CRM in the cabin is to reduce human failure by providing the crew a
diversity of strategies that will help them to improve flight effectiveness.
If the captain does not follow the CRM in the cabin, the crew may lose the skills and attitudes acquired on previous
training to operate the aircraft due to oblivion, which will result in an insecurity flight.

2) What happens to the flight if a captain doesn’t follow the CRM?

Based on my study, the importance of the CRM in the cabin is to reduce human error by providing the crew a diversity

If the captain does not follow the CRM in the cabin, the crew may lose the skills and attitudes acquired to operate the
aircraft due to oblivion, which will result in an unsafe flight.

3) When did you decide to become a pilot?

As a matter of fact, I’ve had my heart set on becoming a pilot since I was a child. When I grew up I had the opportunity
to make this dream come true.
I started my training to become airplane pilot in 1999 and I finished it in 2014. It was not easy, because I have had to
study a lot and buying the hours of flight that have always been expensive as well. But I have never thought to give up.
These difficulties gave me strength to end my training to become a pilot.

4) What do you think about the new technology that is replacing the pilots? Do you agree with this technology?
Nowadays, pilots have a lot of activities on board, such as selection of aeronautical charts that will be used during the
flight, air traffic control communication, management of aircraft’s instruments and attention to avoid essential traffic.
With the increase in aeronautical technology, some activities that are previously assigned to the pilot are being
replaced by these new technologies. These improvements gave to the pilot more time for other activities. For example:
During the flight, the pilots have more time to analyze Instrument landing procedure.
So, I agree with these technologies that are replacing pilots activities ‘’in favor of a flight safer’’.

5) What is the importance of the air transportation?

Based on my knowledge, the importance of the air transportation is the safety and quickly at which people and cargo
are transported by aircraft compared to maritime and road transportation.
Nowadays, there are modern airplanes with its powers engines capable to carry cargo and people from a place to
another, traveling long distances in a very short time.
In the past, people traveled to other countries by ship. Their journeys took several days crossing the oceans to reach
theirs destiny. Nowadays, the same trip can be done by airplane in a few hours with comfort and safety.

6) What could a pilot do to increase his skills?

In my opinion, for an airplane pilot to increase his skills, he will have to upgrade and improve his previously acquired
knowledge. For instance: If the pilot has some difficulty to perform well his flight, he can hone his skills practicing flight
simulator and mind flight several times before each real flight.
This process may take some time, but all effort will certainly be compensated due to the persistence in training.

7) What can heavy rain cause to the flight?

As far as I know, when the rain is heavy, landing and takeoff operations are suspended due to safety due to slippery
runway, low visibility and wind shear.
In fact, when the precipitation increases in the atmosphere, the air density will be reduced and, as a consequence, the
engine power, thrust and aircraft lift will also be reduced.
1) Please describe this picture to me.
Here, we’ve got an interest picture of a White low-Wing Twin-engine Turbofan aircraft. It is a Boeing 737 and I can’t
identify to what air company this aircraft belongs to.
Looking at this photo makes me believe that this situation happened at a big airport because it supports the operation of
an aircraft of this size.
This picture shows a green safety car crossing the runway and an aircraft on the short final. I don’t know what could
have motivated this event. Probable the driver decided to cross the runway without pay attention there was an aircraft on
the final approach. It is a typical ‘’Runway incursion situation’’.
I may say that this picture is poor in details. Because, I can’t see other planes, buildings, jet ways and airport equipment.
It is possible to see in this picture a runway, touchdown zone, center-line signs and a wooded area.
Weather conditions weren’t good, although, it wasn’t raining and the runway was dry, there was a lot of MIST, HAZE or
SMOKE scattered in the air.

A) What do you think happened before this picture was taken?
Before this picture was taken, I think the pilots were concentrated to perform a safe landing. I also believe the pilots
performed all the tasks that a pilot needs to do following the before land check-list and flight attendants assisted the
passengers assuming the correct posture on their seat for landing. When the aircraft joined on the short final, out of the
blue, the safety car started crossing the runway without paying attention that there was an aircraft on the final approach.

B) What do you think these people were doing before this picture was taken?
Before this picture was taken, I think this aircraft was joining in the pattern traffic circuit, the pilots were concentrating to
perform a safe landing, they were performing all the tasks that a pilot needs to do following the before land check-list,
flight attendants were assisting some passengers assuming the correct posture on their seat for landing, airport ground
staff was driving the safety car somewhere at the airport and some of them were doing some type of work at the airport.

C) What do you think was happening before this picture was taken?
Before this picture was taken, I think this aircraft was joining in the pattern traffic circuit, the pilots were concentrating to
perform a safe landing, they were performing all the tasks that a pilot needs to do following the before land check-list,
flight attendants were assisting some passengers assuming the correct posture on their seat for landing, airport ground
staff was driving the safety car somewhere at the airport and some of them were doing some type of work at the airport.

D) Can you create a short story based on this picture? Use your imagination.
It was a flight 2694 from Fort Lauderdale-Miami- International Airport to Baltimore-Maryland-International Airport, Both in
the United State. The Boeing 737 of the Delta Airlines joined the pattern traffic circuit and the pilots performed all the tasks
that a pilot needs to do following the before landing check-list. When the aircraft was on the short final, out of the blue, the
pilots saw a green safety car crossing the Runway. So they decided to go around reporting this event to the ATC. 20
minutes after the pilots have requested clearance to land, they performed it safely RWY09L. So, the acft vacated the
RWY taxing to the airport apron where it was parked. After the pilots shut down the engines passengers were
disembarked from the plane to the arrivals hall and the pilots wrote a report about this event.

3) Imagine that this picture has just been taken:

What do you think will happen next?
I think the airport safety car will continue crossing the Runway; pilots will go around immediately the aircraft in order to
avoid a crash and will join a new pattern traffic circuit to land at the same airport. Before it, the aircraft will vacate the
runway to the airport apron where it will be parked, passengers will be disembarked from the aircraft, pilots will write a
report about this event and this situation will be investigated by the American authorities.

4) From your point of view, what factors can cause a runway incursion?
I can point out a lot of factors that can cause a runway incursion situation, such as poor visibility, lack of a good briefing
on the hold point, lack of communication and attention between pilots, air traffic controller and airport ground.

5) In your opinion, how can a runway incursion be avoided?

As far as I know, a Runway incursion can be avoided by performing a good briefing on the holding point, by improving
airport signage, potentiating communication and attention between pilots, ATC and airport ground staff.

6) Now, I am going to read a statement to you and then you will have to tell me to what extent you agree or disagree with
it: “A runway incursion can happen if a taxiway is too similar to a runway.”
Although, I think it is very hard to happen, I agree with this statement. Once I was told that a pilot took off from a taxiway
at Guarulhos Airport. It was a long time ago. I believe it happened due to a low visibility, probably the pilot wasn’t
familiarized with the airport or he had a dreadful problem of miscommunication at that time.
