"The World in the Eyes of an OFW”

Since 2014, I have been a part of an extraordinary journey as an Overseas

Filipino Worker (OFW).For the past 10 years, I have dedicated my time and efforts
abroad to provide and support my family back home.
The decision to leave my homeland was driven by a noble purpose - to ensure
a better future for my loved ones. The desire to give my family a comfortable life
pushed me to take this path, knowing that the sacrifices would be worthwhile.
During my time abroad, I encountered both unforgettable experiences and
challenging moments. Unfortunately, one of the most difficult experiences was
when a close friend betrayed my trust. It was a painful realization that she had
stolen my hard-earned money and neglected her responsibilities. This betrayal
left me to shoulder the workload alone, a burden that tested my resilience.
Additionally, the jealousy of others due to my positive relationship with my boss
added to the complexity of the situation. Despite these challenges, I remained
determined to overcome them and stay focused on my goals.
Living abroad, I experienced firsthand the allure and advantages of a different
country. The opportunities and living conditions may be better there, but no
matter how appealing they may be, my heart remains loyal to the Philippines.
The strong sense of community, the warmth of Filipino culture, and the love of
family are irreplaceable treasures that cannot be found elsewhere. It is this deep-
rooted connection to my homeland that keeps me grounded and reminds me of
what truly matters.
Looking to the future, the decision to continue working abroad is not solely
driven by choice but by necessity. The responsibility to provide for my family
weighs heavily on my shoulders, leaving me with limited options. Despite the
challenges and sacrifices, the well-being of my loved ones remains my utmost
priority. The determination to secure a better future for them fuels my resilience
and keeps me going, even in the face of adversity.
In conclusion, my journey as an OFW spans a decade filled with sacrifice,
resilience, and unwavering determination. The experiences I have encountered,
both positive and negative, have shaped my perspective and strengthened my
resolve. As I continue on this path, my heart remains firmly rooted in the
Philippines, where love, family, and a sense of belonging thrive.
Life in the eyes of an OFW is an instrument of sacrifice, perseverance and unw
avering love for family and country.
